POSITION SUMMARY
As a leader in the Ski Industry, Alterra Mountain Company seeks a highly motivated, experienced, enthusiastic and knowledgeable individual for the role of Field Sales Event Coordinator. Qualified candidates will have a few years of experience in resort sales, substantial knowledge of North America’s ski industry and the outdoor industry in general, and provide insight and guidance to a team of Field Sales Agents. This role will represent Alterra and be one of the main points of contact for Front Range Events, Mountain Events, and Expos across North America. Willingness to travel is a prerequisite for this position.
Among other qualities, the Field Sales Coordinator will demonstrate their ability to execute daily office tasks with efficiency and care, including such tasks as identifying, developing and maintaining long-lasting outdoor industry business relationships, working with event and industry contacts, attentively and considerately handling customer questions and concerns, identifying and following up on potential sales leads, assisting in the development of sales initiatives, and managing the day-to-day procedures and processes necessary for the execution of successful events, such as staffing, supplies, and logistics.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Core Responsibilities
- Serve as one of the main points of contact for Field Sales Events.
- Manage the scheduling, supply, and staffing of events.
- Provide guidance to Field Sales Team(s).
- Travel and assist the Field Sales Agents at events as necessary.
- Develop and maintain new and existing industry relationships.
- Develop (assist) and then meet and/or exceed sales goals.
- Build depth and working knowledge of Alterra’s operations, goals, and vision with the purpose of aligning sales objectives to assist in achieving that vision.
- Utilize Delphi to enter event details and sales.
- Continuously develop leadership abilities and problem-solving skills.
- Develop networking opportunities by active participation in the outdoor community/industry professional associates, activities, and events.
Day to Day Duties
- Regular contact with the Field Sales Team(s), industry contacts, and customers, including scheduling and supply logistics.
- Continuously research and develop ways to improve sales through new events, expos, and industry relationships.
- Develop and maintain new and existing industry relationships ranging from events, groups, businesses and the general customers with a target to exceed sales goals.
- Assist in the college wholesale program and military sales program.
- Assist in the preparation of sales and other reports in a timely manner.
- Assist the Field Sales Manager with administration of department activities as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- 1+ years of experience in a sales and/or event focused role is preferred.
- Willingness to travel to events and work weekends.
- Eagerness to learn, adapt, and problem solve.
- Strong communication/people skills.
- Ability to easily relate to customers and industry contacts.
- Proven ability to close sales.
- Ability to effectively handle complaints and concerns.
- Ability to delegate tasks, motivate Field Sales Agents, and resolve internal conflict.
- Proven leadership skills and an open willingness to learn how to become an even better leader.
- Positive attitude and patience.
- Technological skills – RTP, AMP, inContact, Delphi, Outlook, MS Word and efficient operation of various Ikon tablet/laptops and their associated technologies.
The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Alterra Mtn Co Shared Services Inc. hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Alterra Mtn Co Shared Services Inc.’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.
Denver area base hourly pay range: $14.90 - $24.04 per hour
