Women Against Abuse, the city’s leading domestic violence service provider, is looking for a Case Manager for our Longer Term Housing Safe at Home Services and Sojourner House!
WAA, a 501(c)3 nonprofit agency, is Philadelphia’s leading domestic violence advocate and service provider and among the largest domestic violence agencies in the country. The mission of WAA is to provide quality, compassionate and nonjudgmental services in a manner that fosters self-respect and independence in persons experiencing intimate partner violence and to lead the struggle to end domestic violence through advocacy and community education. With over 170 staff, WAA serves over 11,000 individuals each year through our direct services, education, advocacy and outreach (2 - 100 bed safe havens, 15 transitional housing apartments, aftercare community-based case management services, legal services, hotline counseling, prevention & education, and advocacy).

Responsibilities:
Provide continued supportive housing counseling and advocacy to former shelter residents; provides and coordinates aftercare housing counseling services for a caseload of clients in accordance with the mission and vision of the Agency. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Providing continued supportive housing counseling and advocacy to former shelter residents in order to enhance their ability to maintain safe independent living to successfully integrate into the community. Providing individual case management, advocacy, needs assessment, action planning and evaluation according to established professional guidelines and norms for an assigned caseload. Accompany residents to appointments as necessary for obtaining and maintaining safe independent housing. Provide in home and telephone, ongoing individual support and informal counseling and makes outside referrals when appropriate. Assist former shelter residents in applying for relocation fund assistance. Identify new resources, develops informational materials and networks with community resources on housing resources, financial literacy, domestic violence, tenant rights, and others as needed for use by survivors of domestic violence. Qualifications: *
- A Bachelor’s Degree in social services or related field with 2 years experience in direct service and/or advocacy is* required*; experience in a residential setting is strongly preferred.
- Driver's License required
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population is required, and working experience in an urban setting is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member is required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in communication, both verbal and in writing, is required.
- Some experience in working on domestic violence issues is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Spanish is strongly preferred.
- Prior Case Management experience preferred.
- Demonstrated skill in crisis intervention, conflict resolution, group facilitation and counseling is strongly preferred.
- Pre-hire must satisfactorily pass criminal (state & FBI) and child abuse clearances (expenses paid by WAA).
- Must attend/complete 45 hours of Domestic Violence Advocate Training, post hire.

Schedule: Monday to Friday 40 hrs/week*
Pay Rate: $18.94/ hour and a generous and comprehensive benefits package (medical, vision, dental, Paid time off & more).
Location: Philadelphia, PA Local Travel Required
