Position Description:

The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine is recruiting for a radiation oncologist to provide clinical care in an integrated community practice in Clinton, Iowa. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in a general practice affiliated with a large academic medical center with integrated physics support and vacation coverage. The practice participates in weekly quality assurance chart rounds with other affiliated sites as well as with practitioners at our main site in Iowa City. Conferences are remotely accessible. Equipment includes a new Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator that went live in 2021, a Philips Brilliance Big Bore CT scanner, a VisionRT AlignRT HD surface monitoring system, and the Varian Aria oncology information system. Treatment planning is conducted with the Philips Pinnacle system, which is integrated with the University of Iowa. Capabilities include 3D-conformal radiotherapy, electron therapy, kV cone-beam CT, intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), 4D-CT, stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), optical surface monitoring, and deep inspiration breath hold (DIBH) treatments. Applicants must have at least four years of residency training in Radiation Oncology and should be board certified or eligible by the American Board of Radiology-Radiation Oncology.


Clinton’s service area of nearly 65,000 is a family-friendly atmosphere with excellent school systems and a variety of attractions, recreational and cultural entertainment sitting along the Mississippi river.The Gateway area including Clinton and surrounding communities is strategically located for easy access to metropolitan area, but also provides the benefits of rural living and offers affordable housing/cost of living, safe communities, an abundance of cultural and recreational opportunities including a biking trail spanning across Clinton and Camanche with access to trails in Illinois. MercyOne Medical Center Clinton consists of approximately 100 beds. It provides services for inpatient and outpatient needs in acute and chronic care. Expanded services, including renal dialysis and medical and radiation oncology, are actively utilized. MercyOne Clinton prides itself on having state-of-the art technology available to the medical staff, including MRI, CT, Acusion Sequoia Ultrasound, DSA, 6meV Linear Accelerator, and PET scan services. A level 4 trauma center and level 2 nursery, as well as 5 OR’s, 2 Cath labs and tertiary care available at the University of Iowa in Iowa City less than 90 miles away.

Education Requirement:
