Business Need / Purpose of Role:
The Facilities Management Assistant is responsible for supporting the Facilities Department in the day-to-day operations and improvement of the facilities, performing all aspects of facilities maintenance, preventative maintenance, in accordance with OSHA, ISO, state/ local and company policies and procedures.
Objectives & Measurement
Key Responsibilities and Specific Accountabilities:
- Demonstrates management’s commitment to safety and can follow all safe practices.
- Perform facility maintenance and preventative maintenance on 480Volt Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, HVAC systems and Over Head Cranes and Doors.
- Applies various welding techniques (Mig, Tig, Arc, etc.) for fabrication and repair purposes.
- Read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance activity.
- Complete work orders in a timely manner maintaining high quality standards while ensuring the job is done correctly the first time around.
- Ensure all computer/paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible and accurate format, and completed with required information. Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with company policy
- Assist in setting up and maintaining parts and supplies inventory.
- Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes.
- Perform (5S) for assigned work area.
- Complete Preventive Maintenance (PM’s) on facilities related equipment.
- Attend training, safety, employee, and department meetings, as required.

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:
- HS Diploma
- 1-3 years of relevant experience
- Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Valid driver’s licence required
- HVAC, Forklift and Scissor Lift certification desired
- High Voltage (480Volt) Electrical and Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- HVAC, Carpentry, Plumbing and Overhead Crane maintenance and repair experience preferred
- Knowledge of SAP PM or equivalent CMMS system highly desired
Physical Demands:
- Sit, talk, hear, and/or use hands to handle and touch objects
- Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch
- Specific vision abilities include close, distance, and peripheral vision, and depth perception
- Regularly required to lift up to 35 pounds and frequently required to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to climb and work from ladders and work at heights of 30 feet
