The Ranch Based Experiential Therapist uses a relationship focused, trauma informed, strengths-based, and sustainability-oriented framework to provide experiential therapy for families and individuals ages 6-adult. The therapist reports to the Clinical Supervisor: Equine Program and is responsible for providing outpatient behavioral and mental health treatment services to AHCCCS eligible children, families, and/or adults. The therapist provides behavioral and crisis management services to Easter Seals Blake Foundation (ESBF) members that include individual therapy, family therapy, case management, and assessment. The therapist works as part of a treatment team by participating in a member’s on-going treatment planning process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (with or without accommodation):
Use relationship focused, trauma informed, strengths based, and sustainability oriented best practice protocols in all therapeutic interventions and utilize evidence-based practices to determine appropriate experiential therapeutic modality for each client- Provides ongoing experiential individual and/or family treatment, education and support to members and their family as indicated on the member’s service plan.
- Collaborate with ranch team to identify, implement, and advocate for animal voice and choice in engagement, relationship-based interactions, and sustainability oriented experiential therapeutic interventions
- Develops treatment recommendations for ongoing support and services.
- Provide effective crisis assessment and intervention including arranging for emergency psychiatric evaluation/hospitalization as indicated.
- Attends and participates in team meetings, clinical staffings (as needed), court hearings, and other meetings relevant to meeting the treatment needs of members.
- Uses knowledge and skill in assessment and diagnosis utilizing ICD-10 criteria. Utilize DSM-V to provide diagnoses or diagnostic impressions for children and adults.
- Maintains clinical records in a timely manner according to EBF and board standards.
- Maintains ranch records in a timely manner according to EBF Ranch policy, procedure, and standards
- Meets all initial and annual training requirements.
- Actively participates in the member’s/family’s Child and Family Team (CFT) or Adult Recovery Team (ART).
- Maintains member records in accordance with requirements set forth by the ESBF, ADHS, the RHBA and other funding sources.
- Completes progress notes using the appropriate covered service billing codes and writes comprehensive and timely reports as required by funding source and/or system partners.
- Provides testimony in court, as required
- Meets requirements of productivity standards set for therapists
- Any other duties as assigned
Education –
- Master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling or related behavioral health field or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Experience –
- Behavioral health experience preferred. Animal assisted counseling experience preferred. Equine assisted counseling experience highly preferred.
License –
- Associate Level License according to Arizona State requirements as a Behavioral Health.
- Professional or Master’s Level Therapist with the ability to obtain an associate license.
- Certification and/or extensive and documented training an Experiential, Animal assisted Adventure Therapy, Equine Assisted Learning (EAL), Equine Assisted Counseling (EAC) and/or nature-based theory and therapy models and modalities
Regulatory –
- Minimum 21 years of age.
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required and willingness to obtain future boosters if required by employer. Accommodation available.
- Valid, unrestricted Arizona driver’s license and the willingness to use personal vehicle in the course of employment. Must meet minimum requirements of agency insurance carrier.
- Must possess a valid AZ DPS Level 1 fingerprint clearance card.
- CPR and First Aid certification (Employer provides).
