Brief

This position provides supervisory, clerical, and analytical support to the Execution Department in the Kansas City, MO office of a global merchandiser and processor of agricultural goods.

The primary department function is the processing of biofuels purchase and sales settlements for the interior and export division using company systems. The execution of freight (barge/rail) trading purchase and sales settlements is also managed within this department. This position requires heavy interaction with internal and external customers while complying with all company policies and government regulations.

Daily contact with internal departments (merchandising, logistics, position group, tax, compliance, accounting, execution) and external customers (commercial sellers, brokers, producers) is integral to the position.

Main responsibilities

•Supervise a group of 3-5 execution associates
•Provide direction, training, support, and evaluation of the group in its daily tasks.
•Be able to perform all of the essential functions of the settlements associate:
•Assists with the reconciliation of the daily position record for assigned
locations.
•Manages all required documentation (tickets, bill of lading, weight & grade
certificates, invoices).
•Verifies weights, taxes, RINs (renewable Identification Numbers), discounts,
program charges, and freight liability.
•Generates purchase and sale advances.
•Processes final purchase and sale settlements.
•Work with treasury to ensure timely payment and application of all cash
transactions.
•Match railroad freight invoices (cars, rates, amounts) to company records for
payment
•Carry out contract entry and payment/invoicing of executed trades for
transportation trading desk.
•Oversee rail freight related activities including demurrage, dispatch, incentives,
and rebates.
•Support and verify truck freight payables completed at local facilities for
payment by the KC office.
•Communicates with customers to resolve payments; past due accounts; and
document discrepancies
•Support the timely completion of the Daily Position Record for multiple
locations.
•Preparation of inventory schedules and account for differences between book
inventory and observed physical quantities at company and off-site locations.
•Reconciliation in various systems of inbound/outbound commodity tickets for
plant and elevators
•Calculation, valuation, and entry of commodity production entries for the firm’s
biofuels plants.

Additional Responsibilities
•Correspond in a timely manner with all internal and external customer requests.
•Maintain all files and documentation associated with the execution process.

Experience

Basic qualification:
•Five years of clerical accounting experience with minimum of three years lead or supervisory experience.

Preferred qualification:
•Agricultural industry experience.

•Basic knowledge of general accounting principles.
•Proficiency with MS Word and Excel.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills.
•Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills.
•Ability to work independently and propose solutions.
•Ability to prioritize multiple, detail oriented tasks and meet strict daily deadlines.

Academics

Basic qualification:
•High school diploma.
Preferred qualification:
•Associates or bachelor’s degree with some accounting coursework.
