Position Summary

The Equipment Operator is responsible for using all types of machinery to lift and move material.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate diesel, gasoline or electric powered crane mounted on crawler treads to lift and move material and objects.
• Drive crane to work site, steering by moving levers and pressing pedals that control motion of crawler treads.
• Load and move material using cranes.
• Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.
• Take actions to avoid potential hazards and obstructions such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, and falling objects.
• Adjust hand wheels and depress pedals to control attachments such as blades, buckets, scrapers, and swing booms.
• Monitor operations to ensure that health and safety standards are met.
• Repair and maintain equipment making emergency adjustments or assisting with major repairs as necessary.
• Adhere to company safety and QA/QC programs as well as OSHA regulations.
• The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required.

Qualifications

Minimum of two years experience as a hydraulic/friction crane operator at a construction site is required. Ability to maintain equipment is required. Must be job certified. Must show proof of a valid driver s license. Must have valid NCCCO Certification for the applicable type of equipment they are operating.

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift in excess of 80 pounds frequently. Requires considerable amounts of bending, stooping, carrying, and pushing/pulling from the waist. Requires overtime, weekend work and working holidays. Must be able to tolerate temperature fluctuations and work in a dusty/noisy work environment.
