Mission:

The Environmental Manager assists with the development, construction and operation of wind, solar and battery energy storage systems for renewable energy projects. The position also ensures compliance with environmental regulations and permits during the development and construction phase, and also supports the North American operating fleet of renewable energy providing compliance and program support.

Responsibilities:

· Assist in obtaining federal, state, and local environmental and construction permitting for the siting of renewable energy facilities

· Assist in ensuring federal, state, and local environmental permit compliance for the operation of renewable energy facilities

· Coordinate and work closely with internal cross functional resources, work with outside consultants, and assist with liaise with governmental agencies on the siting, licensing and permitting issues of renewable energy facilities

· Prepare detailed internal reports on development projects and provide support for preparing permits, regulatory reports, and other compliance submittals

· Work with business development and engineering and construction to identify site specific permitting and regulatory risks and develop risk mitigation strategies

· Assist with environmental policies, procedures, and systems based on ISO 14.001 Environmental Management System (EMS) to increase efficiency and effectiveness with the Acciona Energy North America environmental program requirements

· Conduct audits of North American sites to determine compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements

· Participate in professional, industry, and/or regulatory organizations and associations, as required, to help achieve Acciona’s strategic goals in shaping legislation, state and federal agency policies/guidance, etc

· Assist in the identification of wildlife in the vicinity of construction and operating site locations.

· Enter and manage data within Environmental, Health and Safety management system

· Complete Tier II reports on annual basis

· Review waste streams for proper classification and documentation

· Conduct internal training on environmental procedures

· Other responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

· Bachelor’s of Science in an environmental or related field;

· Minimum 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in an environmental, regulatory, or environmental law sectors that demonstrate increasing responsibility. A proven track record of permitting significant infrastructure projects, participation on a multi-disciplinary team, preferably in the renewable energy or power generation industry

· Previous experience in permitting energy development projects is required, including specific experience with several of the following:

· National Historic Preservation Act

· Endangered Species Act, Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act and Migratory Bird Treaty Act

· Wetlands

· Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans and Inspections

· Spill Prevention Containment Countermeasures Plans

· Phase I ESA

· Non-Hazardous and Universal Waste

· Technical knowledge of environmental disciplines (natural resources, water, waste, etc.) related to development, construction and operation of power generation projects, and related U.S. and/or Canadian federal, state, and local laws and regulations

· Experience with program and permit audits / inspections including monitoring report submissions, record keeping, and action-item resolution

· Proven ability to coach and lead environmental efforts

· Ability to think and analyze situations in a fast-paced environment

· Demonstrated ability to be innovative, initiate and manage change, and deliver results

· Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills are essential

· Independent, detail-oriented, creative, and flexible are essential characteristics

· Proficient in the following application programs: Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Standard and mobile platforms

· Must possess a valid driver’s license

· Must be able to work in an outdoor environment in all seasons, hot and cold conditions

· Overnight travel up to 25%

· Must hold or be eligible to hold a Passport

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
