SUMMARY

The Environmental, Health and Safety Manager performs professional environmental work to protect or improve air, land, and water resources to provide a clean and healthful environment. The Environmental, Health and Safety Manager also eliminates or controls hazardous conditions resulting from human error, equipment and machine operations that may lead to human injury and/or property damage. This role requires a professional knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques of environmental issues concerned with facilities and systems for controlling pollution and protecting quality of resources and the environment and must apply professional principles, methods, and techniques; safety-related elements of the physical sciences, ergonomics, psychology, and physiology; and safety principles, standards, practices, and analytical techniques.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Protect or improve the natural resources of air, land, and water to provide a clean and healthful environment.

*Perform work planning, designing, modifying, or improving and maintaining facilities either by in-house or contractual effort; regulate and enforce environmental policies, programs, or activities by establishing standards, promoting improvements, evaluating compliance and, if necessary, directing action to secure satisfactory results.

*Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and Local environmental permitting including Air Quality Permit, Wastewater Permit, Storm Water Permit, Hazardous Waste Permit, etc. This will require to take utility reading, water samples, inspections, and audits.

*Interface with regulatory agencies and divisional personnel to direct environmental efforts in the divisions. Participate in annual environmental compliance audits. Provide environmental guidelines and assistance in training at the divisional level as required. Interact with outside vendors as necessary to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

*Ensure annual Environmental training is completed in a timely manner

*Investigate, measure, and evaluate environmental conditions and carrying out relevant research, development, planning, design, advisory and related environmental activities.

*Responsible for maintaining and monitoring the ISO14001 system

*Assist in identification, analysis and control of occupational hazards requiring the application of professional knowledge, skill, and abilities.

*Apply knowledge of psychological and physiological factors to assist in the design of safety features and controls, compensating for the possibility of human errors in the operation of machinery and equipment.

*Conduct or coordinate health and safety training to educate workers about policies, laws, and practices.

*Investigate health and safety incidents to determine root cause and suggests practice, procedure, and policy changes to minimize recurrence. Working knowledge of 5 why and 8D

*Perform assessments/analysis to monitor plant compliance with all safety rules and elevates any non-compliance issues persistently until resolved.

*Responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining requirements of OSHA written safety programs including, but not limited to Lock-out Tag-out, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, and Hazard Communication/GHS.

*Conduct or coordinate monthly inspections of facility fire extinguishers and emergency lighting.

*Examine plans and specifications for new machinery or equipment to determine if all safety and health precautions have been included.

*Responsible for the design, installation, or review of installation of safety devices on machinery.

*Conduct plant walk-throughs to inspect fire and safety equipment, machinery, and facilities to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety and health regulations.

*Perform risk assessments, as needed, to identify PHIL’S potential hazard identification list

*Monitor and manage H&S performance, conduct site audits, and ensure identified actions are taken.

*Determine requirements for personal protective equipment when performing specific tasks and ensure plant is fully stocked with needed supplies.

*Provide advice and leadership on all aspects of H&S to other departments.

*Worker’s Compensation claims, benefits, and investigations.

*Responsible for leading incident investigations regarding employee injury and near misses. Implement and monitor corrective/preventive measures.

*Conduct or review Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s), or 8D’s to identify potential hazard areas

*Responsible for the identification, development, and implementation of H&S goals which will positively impact and add value to the organization.

CRITICAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

*Bachelor’s degree in both Environmental Engineering and Occupational Safety & Health or a related science field plus at least one year to three years of experience in that field.

*Familiar with CTA processes and materials.

*Must Be computer literate in Microsoft office

*Proficiency with software programs including word processing and spreadsheets required.

*A true desire to help others is a must.

*A team player who is results driven, able to work under pressure, has strong leadership skills, high energy, strong organizational skills, is empathetic and able to deal with issues in an open, honest manner

*Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees or members of the business community.

*Ability to effectively present information to the employees and the management group.

Work Environment:

Office environment – includes, but not limited to, artificial lighting, computers, telephones, desks, temperature controlled. Manufacturing environment – includes, but not limited to, artificial lighting, machine/equipment noise, some welding exhaust, non-controlled temperatures, and PPE required.

Travel Required: 25%

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
