LOCATION : City of Saratoga Springs – DPW
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The following qualification(s) MUST be met and clearly stated on the City of Saratoga Springs employment application form:
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associates Degree in an Engineering field; OR
- Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma supplemented by at least 20 semester credit hours engineering-relate dated courses; OR
- Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two years of full-time paid experience surveying and/or the application of basic engineering methods or techniques.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Must possess a valid and current NYS driver's license, and must maintain said license throughout the duration of employment.
DUTIES:
- The work involves responsibility for performing a variety of beginning-level technical engineering work and surveying.
- The incumbent assists the Survey AutoCad Technician and the Senior Engineering Technician by performing delegated tasks or independently performing tasks requiring limited use of engineering theory and techniques. The incumbent works both indoors and outdoors and utilize both manual and computerized methods and techniques.
- This position differs from that of an Engineer by virtue of the fact that an Engineering Technician performs only beginning-level technical work.
- The work is performed under the general supervision of the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of Public Works, and the Public Works Business Manager, with direct supervision by the City Engineer.
- Does related work as required.
** A provisional appointment is pending the appropriate NYS Civil Service Exam announced and administered locally. The provisional appointee will be required to sign up to take the exam once it is announced, pay the exam fee (or waiver, pass the exam, and rank in the top three (3) grades to secure a permanent appointment**
