ENGINEERING MANAGER
Location: Walker, MI (3710 Northridge Dr NW)
Status: Permanent, Full-Time, Salary, Exempt
Experience/Seniority: Manager/Supervisor
Regular Hours: Monday - Thursday, 10 hour days (6am - 4pm) and Fridays only as needed/required
Remote Status: In-Office; this position is not open to remote work and you must be able to regularly commute to our location in Walker, MI.
SUMMARY
Gen3 Interconnect is an engineering, manufacturing and supply chain solution provider. Our facility is in the Grand Rapids area with a primary focus on wiring harnesses serving primarily the marine and defense industries. While this company is a start-up, it is part of a larger portfolio of businesses with a strong support network and a proven track record of success in several markets. The Engineering Manager completes the definition of complex projects, selecting sources and monitoring results. Performs complex processes and technical support to production, marketing, sales, and/or other departments. Completes complex projects and performs project organization, definition, planning, implementation and control. Establishes and prepares technical standards and completes complex technology design theory and procedures. While creating and leading an Engineering Team with passion to exceed our customers’ expectations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and assist in establishing manufacturing controls built to comply with all quality standards with the most efficient methods possible.
- Create/Lead in the development of Manufacturing Documentation, Fixtures, Tooling and Equipment to ensure efficiency and repeatability for the manufacturing team.
- Hold engineering team accountable to responsibilities and duties
- Develop and implement new processes and equipment
- Be a key stakeholder in all Lean Manufacturing efforts
- Propose alternate methods of manufacturing while providing data to support proposals and create planning documents.
- Prepare reports for management on the status of manufacturing engineering projects,
- Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
- Interface with customer engineers on design and process improvements.
- Evaluate engineering changes for labor, material, and tooling and equipment impact.
- Successfully define workflows, jobs, and reporting relationships to obtain optimum effectiveness.
- Impact decisions on business operations that have a moderate to high level of impact.
- Develop departmental budgets and business plans for functional area.
- Evaluate and recommend changes in methods or procedures in own area of responsibility.
- Identifies resource needs and develop justification.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex problems.
- Willing to travel to various business locations to ensure a thorough understanding of our products, processes and facilities.
- Any other task needed to support the mission of the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience, preferred
- Experience: Minimum 7 years' experience, preferred
- Industry: Electrical/Electronics Manufacturing, preferred
- Knowledge: IPC 610, IPC 620, J-STD-001, preferred
- Computer Skills: Advanced Microsoft Office experience, required
- Minimum 3 years’ of leadership experience, preferred
- US Citizenship Required
