Job Summary:
The Energy Program Strategist position will focus on specific initiatives to enhance and develop innovative and new ways for the Customer Incentive team to contribute to the bottom line at EMC. This will include researching and proposing energy programs, working with internal and external customers. The position is responsible for assisting the Senior Manager of Customer Incentives with developing and refining strategies to leverage opportunities to promote and sell energy efficiency and other sustainable products and services.
Essential Job Functions:
- Understand incentive programs and application requirements nationwide to meet customer needs and drive projects to completion.
- Collaborate with cross functional EMC teams, acting as the subject matter expert in providing recommendations to maximize program opportunities.
- Analyze customer portfolios and specs and develop internal advocacy suggestions to further help customers save energy and leverage specific program opportunities.
- Develop ideas to optimize the application of incentive service contract options that reduce risk and increase potential returns.
- Conduct incentives analysis on selected new and strategic customer programs. Prepare and provide accurate incentive estimates based on customer scope of work and program requirements. Manage program and customer deadlines.
- Maintain current status information on assigned projects for internal and external customers.
- Developing refined deliverables for utility program managers to advocate for bonus incentive campaigns.
- Guide other team members on gathering information on program source opportunities in their respective areas of focus.
- Partner with Sales to engage customers in incentive opportunity conversations.
- Develop and maintain training materials on how to integrate the value of the Incentives service in our Sales efforts.
- Support the refinement of internal reporting systems that help manage the incentives processing service.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
- Basic understanding of demand-side management, beneficial electrification, sustainability and other trends as they relate to the utility industry.
- Highly proficient in research and strategy development.
- Strong communication, problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel used for tracking and analysis.
- Able to work well in a team environment as well as individually.
- Detail-orientated, high degree of accuracy and ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work effectively with limited supervision.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Process oriented.
Education:
- Four-year degree, preferably in energy, sustainability, engineering or other science or mathematically-focused field OR
- Equivalent experience directly related to utility and other demand-side management program planning and implementation.
Experience Preferred/Other Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience with energy efficiency or similar programs.
- Commercial/retail building energy use and/or electric vehicle infrastructure knowledge.
- Understanding of LED lighting and associated controls.
- Experience working with Salesforce or other similar systems.

- The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
- Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
