Job description
The emergency technician role is an unlicensed assistant position. The registered emergency nurse is responsible for delegating direct patient care tasks to the emergency technicians in accordance to Trinity Mother Frances Hospitals and Clinics Policies and Procedures, the Nurse Practice Act and Texas Law governing unlicensed personnel. The emergency technician role will include: obtaining vital signs, reporting changes in the patient vital signs, providing emotional and physical comfort to the patients, and preparing supplies for procedures. Other supportive tasks such as transportation, lab specimen collection, performance of ECGs and restocking are common for this position. Professional behavior and exceptional customer service is expected of every emergency technician team member.
