Position Summary

As an Electrical Maintenance Shop Engineer at the Beaver Valley Power Station in Shippingport, PA your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead in the development of solutions to equipment issues in support of plant operations and maintenance during both outage and non-outage periods.
  • Provide leadership for Problem Solving, Decision Making, Troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis Teams.
  • Establish predictive and preventative maintenance (task and frequency) for non-critical components.
  • Develop and complete investigations and corrective actions aligned with the Corrective Action Program.
  • Perform field walk-downs and interface with other groups to resolve emergent and routine plant issues.
  • Pursue opportunities to improve site human performance.
  • Review schedules and work orders to ensure efficient work implementation.
  • Demonstrate a solid commitment to all aspects of safety
  • Seek formal and informal opportunities to better understand technical policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Develop effective working relationships with employees to establish a professional network.
  • Performing Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties as assigned.
  • Interface with the Switchyard Operator and assist with coordination of switchyard activities.
  • Coordinate refurbishment of breakers, motors, and other electrical components.

Qualifications include:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred)
  • Experience in Electrical Engineer preferred.
  • Prior professional-level engineering experience is preferred.
  • Prior plant system engineering experience; experience with electrical, mechanical and I&C components, preferred.
  • Ability to work independently in leadership and mentoring roles with little supervisory involvement.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong analytical ability.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with all employees at Energy Harbor
  • Skilled to deliver quality and accurate work within established deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to make formal technical presentations to various management levels.
  • Ability to work extended hours, shift schedules and perform on-call duties when necessary.
  • Must reside within site-specific ERO response time.
