The Electrical Designer Lead will work within the Design Department to provide support to all phases of design. The ideal candidate for this full-time position is extremely dependable and timely in attendance and work habits. The successful candidate will also need to be able to work productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Additionally, candidates must have exceptional written and communication skills. Electrical Designer Lead has direct supervisory responsibilities in which he/she is going to supervise Designers, Detailers, and Drafters. Supervisory include Electrical design, BIM population, BIM coordination, and QA/QC Electrical installation/ fabrication, and NEC code. Equally as important, a great candidate will conduct themselves with a positive attitude!

  • Provide engineering support functions for all engineering design staff, including decision making, problem-solving, and other support functions for resolution of design and other issues that may arise during the engineering of construction drawings.
  • Maintain established and newly created REVIT standards as they relate to all functions of design and construction. Perform periodic audits of projects in process to ensure adherence to the design standards and processes.
  • Support integration of new REVIT standards and development in the direction of the VDC Manager and VDC Specialist, as related to all aspects of software and hardware utilized within the department while working in conjunction with the designers, detailers, and drafters for implementation of newly created process and procedures.
  • Perform fundamental engineering:
    • Lighting & power design and layouts including circuiting and switching schemes
    • Single line designs / Panel schedules / Load calculations
    • Organizes details of construction drawings and responds to construction administration items as they arise.
    • Coordinates with Architects, Structural, Civil and Mechanical Engineers plan
  • Manage and schedule at the direction of the VDC Manager, the design of power and lighting systems, and assemble design drawings and documentation for city issuance and construction.
  • Have a coordination meeting experience.
  • The ability to work with a group of modelers and communicate with the field installers.
  • Monitor/checking if there is any clash. Be able to run clash detection with Navisworks and address the clashes.
  • Coordinate and monitor shop drawing submission schedule.
  • Produce shop drawings as per detail given by Engineer / Manager.
  • The ability to handle multiple projects.
  • Positively reinforce the REVIT developments within the department through positive and supportive behavior.
  • Support VDC Manager in all aspects of project design.
  • Assist in the development and implementation and maintain Sprig Revit design and modeling protocols and standards for incorporation into the department manual.

Competencies

  • Experience in electrical power distribution, lighting, and installation.
  • Strong proficiency and knowledge of Revit, Naviswork, and Bluebeam required.
  • Strong proficiency and knowledge of MS Windows operating system and able to integrate Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio; and Adobe Creative Suite, graphics, and photographs into other documents, as well as experience using a plotter required.
  • Knowledge/experience with NEC, California construction and city codes preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends.
  • Flexibility to adjust to an ever-changing schedule.
