Job description

As a Senior ElasticSearch Engineer you will be in charge of monitoring and stabilizing the ElasticSearch services for GitHub clusters infrastructure.

You will also help to guarantee the availability of the services by monitoring their performance and being able to respond to incidents reported in production.

Responsibilities

Be able to troubleshoot performance issues in the ElasticSearch infrastructure

Troubleshoot performance problems of clusters with tons of data

Know how to consume Elasticsearch services and also do indexing and searching

Maintain the infrastructure behind the scenes for massive indexes

Interact with other team members remotely and other stakeholders like Product Managers, Customer Program Managers and Customer Support Representatives

Create analytical data searches and execute high-performance searches

Technical Skills required:

· ElasticSearch (5 to 7 years)

· Experience with one or some of these programming languages:

o Java

o Ruby

o Golang

· RESTful API

Nice To Have:

· Nomad

· Kubernetes (Just experience using it)

· Puppet (Just experience using it)

· Terraform

· Cloud Services using Azure or AWS

Experience Required

Significant experience with Elasticsearch

Experience with Java, Ruby, or Golang to troubleshoot and improve the performance of the services

AWS and Azure experience is a plus

Have proper knowledge to understand cluster-oriented architectures

Have previous experience collaborating with other engineers and doing pair programming practices

Soft Skills:

· Good communication skills to have technical and analytical discussions with other developers, pair programming

· Problem solving and analytical

· Perform under pressure
