THE ROLE
The EIC of Spiceworks will lead content strategy and operations to drive audience growth, revenue, and innovation. This leader will oversee the Spiceworks content and community teams.
This leader will have a proven track record in driving and implementing successful brand strategies across editorial operations, content, community, video and social. Key responsibilities include managing editorial staff and ramping up content cadence during key tech/B2B moments, managing editorial budget, liaising with the monetization team to create innovative editorial programs for sponsors, leading the Spiceworks editorial calendar, and implementing strategies to build high LTV consumers for healthy audience growth. The leader of this organization will drive sustainable growth through a combination of setting and executing the right strategy, instilling operational rigor, and leading with both inspiration and accountability.
Specific responsibilities will include:
- Building a cohesive strategy to further define Spiceworks and create a strong brand sentiment both externally (consumer and clients) as well as internally; this must be apparent from the content that is created, community engagement, and immersive brand moments such as Spice World.
- Implementing an art and science approach to content creation making sure the team is using data to help inform their decisions but to also double down on hunches/trends they see coming
- Applying operational rigor to ensure the content and community teams are focused on products/categories that drive the most value for the Spiceworks audience; create a funneled content approach to re-engage the audience and have them come back for more
- Overseeing the Spiceworks editorial budget and optimize on efficiencies to focus on areas with the most growth opportunities
- Creating quarterly OKRs and holding the editorial team accountable to meet objectives by focusing on the right things
- Establishing a strong relationship with the Audience Development team optimizing on SEO, Social and E-mail to drive consumer growth and engagement
- Working effectively with Product and Engineering to create an optimal site and community experience and develop immersive content experiences to further engage and grow audience
- Partnering with the Monetization team to develop new and next editorial programs to help drive Ad Sales revenue
- Assist the ZTG leadership team in developing talent. Foster an environment which stimulates open communication, collaboration, imagination and engenders a team spirit in solving problems and achieving growth expectations.

THE CANDIDATE
The EIC of Spiceworks will be able to connect the dots and spot trends before our competitors get to them. She/He/They will be a visionary and set the course of what Spiceworks is but also be a strong operational executor understanding how the organization should be structured to make that vision into a reality. This leader will have a collaborative, hands-on management style that emphasizes clear, direct, communication and transparency at all levels and cross-functionally. The candidate should be willing to experiment, engage readers across different platforms, and offer deeply reported advice and information on technology. The candidate is passionate about the tech space and where it’s going, and has strong ideas, a successful track record building digital brands and communities, and the hunger to be the go-to source (among all the competitors) for a tech-obsessed audience. The ideal candidate has demonstrable success in leading by example with a commitment to setting and achieving ambitious, but realistic, growth goals. They should have an analytical approach to fast decision making. They must be a servant leader to their teams, with a track-record of developing talent at all levels that add to the culture and results of an organization.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree
- Masters or Advanced Degree, desired
- Minimum ten (10) years of relevant experience in digital publishing
- Exceptional writing and communication skills
- Experience in overseeing Editorial, Video, and Social teams
- Experience in overseeing international teams
IDEAL EXPERIENCE
Editorial Leadership: Proven track record as a leader of editorial teams, with increased scope and responsibility.
Industry Experience: Experience in the digital media and content strategy.
Business Growth: Experience in driving profitable growth and building high LTV audiences.
Breadth and Depth: Has overseen editorial teams, has worked for a tech oriented brand and covered the tech beat for a period of time. Has familiarity with the differences of tech needs between SMB to Enterprise technology needs.

The salary range for this position is $145,000 to $150,000.
