Job Description :
The ideal candidate is an editor who has a passion for clean and effective language, an understanding of copy standards and proofreading methods, and a drive to bring the insights produced by the Insight and Intelligence team to life. They are passionate about the suitability of the serial comma, loathe lengthiness, and attuned to business writing and structure.
This candidate will report to the VP, Intelligence to ensure our outputs, which may range anywhere from 2 pages to upwards of 50, are error-free and adhere to the quality and standards of the Intelligence team. They will also work closely with the rest of the Insight and Intelligence team on the presentation of insights across our outputs. The candidate will also be responsible for producing copy for public-facing collateral, maintaining and optimizing existing standards and processes and managing certain regular deliverables.
Alongside copy editing, the candidate will be closely involved in helping develop and improve our templates and formats, from design through to helping establish core editorial processes with the analyst team to ensure that our reporting is clear, concise and insightful. The ideal candidate will have experience working with data-driven research outputs and longer-form reports, as well as a strong sense for crafting the perfect headline. The candidate should also be a strong storyteller who can pull together disparate data points to craft the narrative behind the information.
Responsibilities

Responsible for completing final copy edits, including checking reports for internal consistency and strengthening headlines and subheadlines

Ensure all final copy adheres to the Insight and Intelligence Style Guide

Ensure that output adheres to the proper standards and processes for templates, design and data visualization

Work closely with the Insight and Intelligence team to write compelling insights and client-facing narratives based off research and data

Drive storytelling to ensure that outputs engage readers effectively

Work with internal departments, including marketing, to write a variety of public-facing content such as newsletter or whitepapers

Meet deadlines, internal and external, as set by clients

Maintain internal standards and style guidelines
Requirements
-
3-5 years’ experience in an editorial function, preferably in marketing, communications, journalism, media, research or an agency environment

Understanding of AP style

A keen attention to detail and an ear for language and tone in writing

Ability to work with short, medium and longer-length texts for copy edits as well as structural edits

Strong self-management skills to balance multiple projects

Flexibility and willingness to wear multiple hats

Experience working with data-backed writing is preferred, but not required
-
Graphic design or data visualization experience are a plus, but not required

Language skills are a plus, but not required

NYC Pay Range: $60,000 - $120,000
