Summary

This position involves the operation of an Edging Machine. The machine is used to place a smooth edge on and polish all sides annealed glass. In addition to operating the machine, the operator will track, locate, and record all production.

This position is held on our evening (2nd) shift, starting at 3:30pm on Monday - Friday. Some Saturdays or overtime may be scheduled as needed.

Due to the position working evening hours, there is a an extra $2 shift differential applied to the pay.

Here’s What You’ll Get To Do

  • Read and interpret blueprints and drawings, process work orders by due dates provided
  • Work with a partner to properly and safely load and unload glass from machine (this may also involve operating an overhead crane to assist with lifting heavy pieces of glass)
  • Calibrate each machine at required intervals
  • Complete daily worksheets and forms, calculate necessary measurements and inspect work
  • Inspect all glass for defects such as chips, bubbles, scratches, blown holes, proper edge work, etc.
  • Ensure the machines and tools are in good working order, perform daily cleaning and light maintenance on machinery/tools

What We’re Looking For

  • Must have at least one year of experience operating machinery used in production/manufacturing environments
  • Must be able to operate a computer for entering data
  • Must be able to read and perform calculations and measurements with numbers, fractions and decimals
  • Must be detail oriented and self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to push, pull, bend, twist, walk and reach frequently
  • Must be able to individually lift material that weighs up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 150 lbs. with a partner
  • Must be able to work in a noisy environment due to loud machinery
  • Must have visual acuity to operate machinery, read necessary paperwork, and inspect material
  • Must be able to be able to work inside a non-climate-controlled environment (protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes)
