Team Introduction
Edge Network Operation Engineer is responsible for building and running the Edge Network Infrastructure for ByteDance. This position is tasked to ensure the Edge Network Infrastructure is reliable, fault-tolerant, efficiently scalable and cost-effective. You will have the opportunity to build and manage a diverse edge network across the globe to provide our customers the highest-quality and lowest latency experience.

Our engineers define, architect and build innovative product experiences that customers love and use every day. Edge Network Operation Engineer should be skilled at managing and building the Edge Network, deploying new data centers all over the globe and expanding our existing data centers and manage and learn from incidents. We are likely to ask questions to see your capabilities and skills in BGP, PBR, automating deployments, utilizing flow data and optimizing Internet routing.

Technical Assessment
Candidates who pass resume evaluation will be invited to participate in TikTok's technical online assessment in HackerRank.

Responsibilities

• Design and build and TikTok's rapidly growing edge network.
• Manage TikTok's rapidly growing edge network.
• Diagnose root cause for network issues, participate in on-call rotation and be an escalation point for service incidents.
• Optimize the edge network from both performance and cost perspectives, by analyzing data, setting up peering and applying various traffic engineering tools.
• Establish processes and procedures for operations and turn-ups.
• Partner with the Network acquisition team to identify key Network partnership to optimize traffic in terms of performance and cost.
• Build the most connected and peered edge network by building PNI's and connecting to local IX.
• Build visibility tools and establish procedures to proactively identify future issues and implement the fix.
• Build automation tools to reduce the toil and repetitive tasks.
• Optimize and expand the Anycast network for ByteDance.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related fields or equivalent practical experience
• Final year or recent graduate with a background in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Knowledge of Python and Go
• Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated software engineering experience from previous internship, work experience, coding competitions, or publications
• Curiosity towards new technologies and entrepreneurship
• High levels of creativity and quick problem-solving capabilities
