Position Title: Assistant Director of Nursing

Overview: The ADON is responsible, attentive, knowledgeable, and provides high quality care to patients. Provides support to nursing staff and the Director of Nursing. Responsible for overseeing the Infection Control program for the facility. This role will oversee the Extended Congregate Care (ECC) program and residents that are receiving ECC services.

Essential Job Functions:

• Serves as the backup to the DON and takes on responsibilities in his/her absence.
• Reviews potential residents to ensure Admission criteria is met and collaborates with the DON and Admissions team.
• Ensure nursing staff follows department procedures and policies.
• Conducts patient rounds and addresses complaints.
• Evaluated the performance of the department and recommending improvements.
• Assist the clinical managers and DON in monitoring completeness and appropriateness of nursing staff documentation.
• Assist in emergency situations involving residents.
• Function as a charge nurse if indicated.
• Prepare infection control reports for QAPI, State and Federal mandates.
• Ensure staff is educated on infection control and monitor for compliance with Infection Control policies and procedures.
• Attend daily clinical meeting and monthly staff meetings.
• Assist in scheduling staff meetings for patient updates, issues, and recommendations.
• Interact with medical staff, nursing staff, residents, family members and other visitors regarding residents’ conditions.
• Assist in completing schedules of staff to meet at least minimum standards per regulation.
• Communicates with family members and resident’s responsible party.
• Shares resident information with staff on a need-to-know basis for proper care of residents’ needs.
• Maintains compliance with applicable codes and state requirements.
• Communicates with the Activity staff on a regular basis to inform, exchange ideas, coordinate services and discuss format for individual and group programming. Also shares insight, information and reports responses and/or progress regarding residents.
• Evaluates programming on an ongoing basis through surveys and direct interaction with residents and families.
• Communicates with resident volunteer services offering guidance and resources as needed.
• Assist in Nursing budget including planning, purchasing, and maintaining necessary elements within the limits provided by the Administrator.
• Recognizes signs and symptoms which signify a change in condition that require nursing intervention and reports these changes to the attending physician, AL Manager and Administrator. Shares resident information with staff on a need-to-know basis.
• Attends training, meetings, and continuing education workshops (as approved) and keeps current trends through reading and conferring with peers.
• Participates in rotating MOD schedule and MOD trainings.
• Protects the privacy of the resident when communication oral and written information.
• Serve in emergency preparations, and/or evacuations during facility emergencies.
• All other duties as assigned.

You Have:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
• Graduate of two-year accredited RN program.
• AL CORE certification and ECC certification preferred.
• One to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
