The ECE Mentor will serve as a central point of support for students pursuing early childhood credentials at ICC. This position will be working in an advising role serving as an initial and ongoing point of contact for students in the Early Childhood Education program. The ECE Mentor will build relationships inside and outside of the institution to ensure students experience a smooth entry process and are connected to the appropriate ICC services.

• Serve as a first point of contact for students interested in early childhood programs at ICC.
• Provide instruction and support assisting students in all areas of the enrollment/registration process.
• Send reminders to students regarding critical enrollment/drop/add deadlines.
• Advise students into the correct program (or connect them with the appropriate Success Coach/Program Coordinator).
• Connect students to the Financial Assistance Office as applicable.
• Connect students to ACCESS for accommodation requests.
• Respond to inquiries regarding CDA, certificates, AAS, and scholarships.
• Serve as a liaison to connect students to the appropriate faculty/staff regarding program specific questions, resources, and other applicable information.
• Monitor student progress and intervene to provide support where applicable.
• Hold regular meetings with students to check in, determine potential needs, and provide academic support with regards to policies and processes for success.
• The mentor will network with institutional faculty/staff, CCR&R navigators, and equivalent personnel at other higher education institutions in order to best support students and to make appropriate referrals.
• Work with external CCR&R navigators to ensure seamless services to ECE students.
• Build relations with community programs to recruit students and serve as a first point of contact for those interested in early childhood programs at ICC.
• Engage in statewide ECACE network meetings and professional learning communities.
• Perform related duties as required.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

• Associate degree in early childhood education.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Demonstrated sensitivity and experience serving the needs or a diverse population of students.
• Ability to establish appropriate boundaries while developing positive and effective coaching/advisory relationships with students.
• Ability to track academic progress and gather academic supports for students.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.

• Bachelor's degree or higher in early childhood education.
• Experience in Higher Education.
• Experience working with PeopleSoft or related Student Information Software.
• Familiarity with college/university admissions, scholarship and financial aid process.
