Description:
Responsible for evaluating, preparing, and submitting federal, state, and local environmental permits for Transmission capital project work concerning regulated electric transmission substations and lines.
Responsibilities Include:
Responsible for providing functional direction in preparing environmental permit submittals for all federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, and compliance assurance support related to Transmission capital project work. Serve on project teams to provide expertise on permitting design and overall permitting requirements. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance requirements, and working knowledge of their impact to Transmission projects. Provide support to the Transmission Construction team that ongoing Transmission capital projects are in compliance with federal, state and local environmental laws and regulations. Works independently to determines and develop approaches to solutions. Serves as a transmission environmental permitting expert for capital transmission projects and provides specialized technical design expertise and judgment to resolve complex permitting issues. Maintain project schedules and accountability for meeting specified schedules for permitting tasks. Track project schedules and task in Team Member. Develop processes and maintain appropriate permit records as needed. Overnight travel (25%) occasionally required. Fieldwork in rough terrain required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, sciences or other related field of study
- Minimum of 8 years of experience.
- Proficient in obtaining Florida local, state, and federal environmental permits.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent negotiating skills with regulators and the public regarding the environmental permitting of land development projects
- Ten years of experience supporting land development environmental permitting within multiple regulatory jurisdictions.
- Substantial experience gaining environmental land development permits in Florida.
- Experience work for an electric utility.
- Professional certification/ license (i.e. CPESC, QEP, PWS, Florida Certified Erosion Control Inspector)
- Demonstrate ability to successfully influence outcome with a high level of collaboration.
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, wildlife biology, ecology, or natural sciences.
- Experience supporting and managing land-development projects and/or linear construction projects.
- Experience obtaining regulatory approvals from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S Fish and Wildlife Service, State Historic Preservation Office, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
- Experience obtaining Environmental Resource Permits from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection or Water Management Districts.

Pay: $98,800.00 per year
