"This Job Matters” What’s the job? The Dry End Technician position learns and performs all Occupational Skills within the Dry End job group: Stacker, Takeoff Driver, Dryer, and Bundler. The Dry End technician will work at our state-of-the-art Proctor Gypsum plant, which uses environmentally friendly synthetic gypsum that is produced as a byproduct of the chemical scrubbers that remove sulfur from the coal-fired power plant that operates across the street from our plant. The successful candidate will be part of a team that manufactures various types of gypsum wallboard that is sold in various US Markets and Canada to contractors, businesses and big box stores so that is can be used for both new construction and remodels. We are located near the Ohio River just outside Moundsville, WV. This suburb of Wheeling is a growing family based community nestled in the northern panhandle of scenic West Virginia.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Knowledge/ Skills Required: • High School education/GED; two to three years manufacturing experience preferred • Ability to work in a team-based environment with little to no supervision • Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing • Good reasoning/mechanical aptitude Dryer Responsibilities • Operates HMI (Human Machine Interface) equipment • Monitors all moving equipment, board tracking • Performs start up and shut down procedures for the dryer and related equipment • Sets reclaims board aside for rework • Maintains and understands equipment operations • Coordinates and communicates all product changeovers • Provides relief to all areas in the Dry End. • Tracks Dryer temperature set points for all products; maintains and optimizes gas usage • Inputs daily production data into the database/GXO. • Key communicator to the cutting lists and product run schedules Bundler Responsibilities • Safely lifts wallboard, raw materials, and equipment as needed to perform duties. • Operates mobile equipment in the normal course of daily activities to move both wallboard and raw materials. • Maintains supply of bundling and zip tape • Ensures accurate count of finished goods • Ensures finished length, end cut and packaging requirements are met • Ensures hold tag procedures and finished goods inventory are correct • Stocks tapes in racks. • Performs and understands all Dry end testing procedures. • Optimizes equipment during changeover and upset conditions. • Inputs daily production data into the QI database (quality check in QI) and GXO Stacker Responsibilities • Inspects all finished product going into the warehouse • Places risers in the correct location on each lift • Places straps on long board (12+ feet) • Performs and understands all Dry end testing procedures • Tracks both good and bad board; reclaims board set aside for rework • Inputs daily production data into GXO database • Key communicator to Takeoff Drivers Take Off Driver Responsibilities • Transports drywall (6-16’) safely and efficiently to and from warehouse. • Accurately tracks and documents all finished product by completing approved tracking system for each production run. • Sorts and reworks all sellable board either through equipment refeed or hand sorting. • Delivers and stacks units in the warehouse within the set standards developed by Customer Service Manager. • Completes visual quality checks on every lift of board placed in the warehouse. • Performs full quality test from the takeoff refeed as needed. • Assists Dry end techs with upset conditions and optimization of production. • Assists Production Hold bay sorting by checking cut schedule and held board to identify opportunity for reclaiming product. • Keeps Stacker full of dunnage. • Produces dunnage for each shift to meet production expectations/requirements. • Performs maintenance on scheduled down days based on work order distribution. • Completes daily inspections of FLT. • Keeps propane tanks full for FLT during shift. • Enters scrap and sellable production in GXO. • Completes housekeeping duties every shift (dumpsters, long board, quality samples, additional scrap, etc.)
