The Pharmacy Services Department is seeking an experienced business professional to join the team. This position reports to the Pharmacy Purchasing and Contracting Manager. This role is responsible for supporting and developing pharmacy purchasing systems and technologies to provide informed decision-making processes for line item procurement, database management, and drug supply chain stability. This position will collaborate with the Pharmacy Analytics Team to establish analytical and technological tools to enhance the Pharmacy Buyer’s workflow, resulting in cost avoidance and optimal inventory management. Given the nature of this work, excellent Microsoft Office skills are required, along with a baseline understanding of programming languages.

Responsibilities*
- Maintain and support select pharmacy purchasing systems within the Department of Pharmacy Services.
- Partners with stake holders both internal and external to leverage pharmacy procurement solutions throughout the enterprise to enhance procurement strategies, ability to identify and act on cost savings opportunities, reporting capabilities, drug supply chain stability, and patient care.
- Partners with external technology vendor(s) to continue to refine solutions to fit the needs of our department and procurement strategies throughout Michigan Medicine.
- Works with colleagues from other departments (Willow, Analytics, etc) to develop interconnected solutions to support drug procurement activities throughout the Michigan Medicine enterprise.
- Develops and creates presentations, reports, and dashboards for internal and external stake holders to support decision making, workflows, or complex customer needs.
- Serves as a liaison and expert resource for pharmacy purchasing systems used by Pharmacy Services throughout the Michigan Medicine enterprise.
- Functions independently, with guidance from the Pharmacy Purchasing and Contracting Manager, to maintain and optimize technology solutions utilized by the Department of Pharmacy to support procurement strategies, cost savings opportunities, reporting capabilities, drug supply chain stability, and patient care.
- Conducts spot checks to make sure that systems are functioning as expected and designed.
- Mentors and teaches other staff (internal and external to the Department of Pharmacy), provides ongoing assistance to advance projects and ensure optimal use of the technology solutions.
- Maintains baseline knowledge of frontline procurement processes by occasionally providing cross coverage for pharmacy buyers.

Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree in a recognized field of science or learning which is directly related to the duties of the position.
- Senior Level: At least 5-8 years of experience in analyzing and interpreting process, clinical outcomes and costs of care.
- Intermediate Level: At least 3 years of experience in analyzing and interpreting process, clinical outcomes and costs of care.
- Ability to independently manage multiple projects with competing priorities with organizational skills and flexibility to meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate clearly, both verbal and written to internal and external constituents and apply a high degree of analytical, interpretive, and evaluative skills dealing with complex concepts, projects, etc.
- Self-motivated with an ability to work well with teams.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated ability to lead team members to accomplish a common goal.
- Experienced use with standard office tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc).
- Possess or be able to obtain a Pharmacy Technician license with the State of Michigan within one year from date of hire.
- Has knowledge of or experience in the delivery of patient care needed to perform the duties of the position.
Desired Qualifications*
- Advanced degree in Analytics, Public Health, Health Administration, Business, Engineering, or Data Science.
- Depth of experience and proven track record implementing and support pharmacy purchasing systems within healthcare organizations.
- Experience leading a highly productive team to accomplish a common goal.
- Experience using programing languages (SQL highly preferred).
- Advanced knowledge with standard office tools.
- Experience and credibility interacting with all levels of leadership.
