Under the supervision of the CENS Program Manager, the Driver will assist with the delivery of direct services via safe transportation to and from division activities for the Client Engagement & Navigation Services (CENS) program. Transport staff and clients between facilities, social service agencies, hospitals, clinics, potential housing units, SSG, and program sites.
Essential Functions
The tasks, duties, and responsibilities of the job include, but are not limited to, the following: Transport all scheduled appointments, maintain records of mileage and destination of all client transports, maintain documentation related to the gas card. Communicate and coordinate with program staff to schedule and map-out client transportation needs. Transport Inter-office mail, transport materials between program sites, maintain a record on the maintenance of the transport vehicle such as tune-up, brakes, oil change, and washed, always keep all proper updated documentation in the vehicle. Maintain a record of van washes and the cleanliness of vans. Transport staff between housing facilities, social service agencies, hospitals, clinics, potential housing units, and program sites when needed.
Operate company vans and larger vehicles by federal and state driving guidelines and safety codes. Adhere to Division polices and confidentiality, and treat clients, co-workers, and partners with respect and dignity. Maintain appropriate boundaries, and adhere to SSG’s Code of Ethics and HOPICS’ Core Values. Professionally represent the Agency at meetings and community events. Regular attendance is required.
Secondary Functions
Perform any other appropriate responsibilities as assigned by the Substance Use Disorder Services Manager and or Division Director. Maintain files/records on client services in compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and other funding requirements for auditing purposes. Timely completion of required reports and documentation. Attend mandatory Agency and Division meetings and training.
Minimum Qualifications - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Submission of an H-6 printout from the California Department of Motor Vehicles. Valid California Commercial Class B (or higher) Driver’s License. Ability to work with clients from diverse cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds. Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally. Proof of current automobile insurance is required. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as being a team member. CPR, Finger Printing, and First Aid Certification within the first thirty days (30) of employment (along with HIV/AIDS training) in the first 3 months of employment. Verification of Employment Eligibility and Background clearance required. TB test required (Note: Results may not be more than (3) months prior to or (7) days after the date of hire and renewed annually thereafter). Valid Driver’s license and proof of insurance required.

Environmental Conditions (Working Conditions)
The Driver will work in an office setting and spend most of his or her day on the road, behind the wheel, driving on the streets and freeways. S/he may be exposed to aggressive, sometimes noisy, loud, and disruptive clients and must work in conjunction with other staff members; interface with courts, LA County Probation, Sheriff’s Department and Mental Health Departments, and other community agencies. Evenings and weekends are required. There is some responsibility to work in noisy environments where adults are free to talk loud and expressive.
Physical Requirements
The Driver typically spends time driving, sitting, standing, walking, typing, thinking, carrying (max. 50 lbs), listening, speaking.

The Driver must be able to handle any/all of the following: interruptions, changes in priorities/work schedules; be able to process information, think, and conceptualize.
Mandatory Covid19 Vaccination Requirement
COVID-19 Vaccination Required: All staff is required to be fully COVID-19 vaccinated and to submit vaccination records to the HR Department during new hire orientation. Fully COVID-19 vaccinated (2 weeks from last vaccination dose to be considered fully vaccinated). All staff are required to take a monthly Covid-19 test and submit it to the HR department
