Position Summary:

The Donor Center Specialist (DC Specialist) is responsible for providing high-quality service to our donors, making sure every contact is a great experience and an opportunity to educate, motivate, engage, and delight our donors. The DC Specialist is a critical thinker and problem solver who analyzes incoming inquiries, provides feedback to the agency and facilitates ongoing open and productive communication between our constituents and the organization.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Increase donor awareness of UJA-Federation’s mission through encouraging discussion, answering questions, and providing appropriate information
  • Explain to donors and prospects the full array of UJA-Federation’s giving opportunities and clarify agency policies
  • Resolve donor inquiries related to bills, tax substantiation statements, acknowledgements, web gifts and event registrations, mail/phone and e-mail preferences, etc.
  • Listen actively to identify problems, determine the cause, select the best solution, and implement it in a positive, friendly, and timely fashion
  • Analyze donors’ inquiries to recognize systemic issues and work with colleagues from other departments (Fundraising, Marketing, IT, Operations) to find creative solutions to ensure donors’ satisfaction, the quality of our data and overall organizational efficiency
  • Record all inquiries and actions taken in the Donor Center database for up-to-date and ongoing documentation of our donor contacts, timely completion of tasks and further data analysis
  • Assist fundraisers and other staff members with matters relating to donors and donors’ accounts
  • Produce bills, tax substantiation statements, account summaries, special correspondence and other documents upon request
  • Accept and process donor contributions
  • Process monetary adjustments and non-monetary changes to accounts as requested by donors
  • Participate in periodic account reviews and special quality assurance projects

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Two to four years of donor relations, customer service or other related experience required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written), superior phone manners and exceptional attention to detail
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure
  • Positive attitude, willingness and ability to assist others
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to function independently and as a team player
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office, ability to learn and use fundraising system, Donor Center database as well as other computer applications

Salary Information:

The salary range for this role is $59,000 - $61,000; commensurate with experience and qualifications.
