OVERVIEW

The Diversion Liaison will work with law enforcement and the jail administration in the Oklahoma County Detention Center to assess individuals brought to the jail who may be eligible for diversion programs and/or pre-trial release. This position must ensure effective and efficient communication and collaboration between all partners involved in referring and receiving referrals to engage individuals in services.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of the Diversion Liaison include:

• Serving as liaison between law enforcement and the municipal and county courts
• Maintains adequate communication channels with community partners and diversion programs
• Provides the initial screening and engagement with individuals brought to the jail who may be eligible for release to a pre-booking diversion program
• Supports community providers in facilitating transportation of individuals to a diversion and/or pre-trial release program
• Manages the screening intake form completed by individuals brought into the jail to assist with pre-trial releases
• Participates in community events related to criminal justice reform

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum bachelor's degree in Social Work, Communications, Criminal Justice, Political Science or similar human service area from an accredited college or university

ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Clearance of background check
• Ability to work a rotating schedule when necessary to accommodate the needs of the jail and diversion programs

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

• Demonstrated experience developing positive, collaborative relationships with law enforcement and social services providers to effectively serve mutual clients
• A working knowledge of the criminal justice system
• Familiarity with the Oklahoma Supreme Court Network (OSCN), and determining arrest, charges, and convictions of individuals
• Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
• Be able to interact with persons of diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds in a manner that demonstrates sensitivity toward cultural differences and respect for everyone
• Ability to interact with individuals experiencing homelessness and behavioral health challenges
• Independence and self-confidence to act decisively and, at the same time, an ability to receive, integrate and translate others' ideas and suggestions

COMPUTER EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

Intermediate computer, mobile device and internet skills with knowledge of software programs including but not limited to:

• Windows and Microsoft Office Products
• Cloud-based File Sharing such as Google Drive and Dropbox
• Adobe Products

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to sit over long periods of time and be able to talk, hear, sit, stand, walk; lift and or move items of up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Must have excellent command of English language and grammar, both verbal and written. Must be able to manually operate and use a computer. Must be able to clearly hear and understand telephone conversations.
