PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: *The Dive Coordinator will assist the DSO, Manager of Dive Operations, and Dive Staff in working with all staff, including department heads, within the organization, interns, and volunteer divers, in the implementation of overall CMA dive safety procedures. Coordinate with all staff departments for schedules of events, maintenance, and assistance for animal care. Coordinate reception of all new Divers to include Staff, Volunteers, and Interns from beginning swim test through final Dive Team acceptance. Help coordinate volunteer and intern schedules. Establish and enforce guidelines to ensure safety throughout the facility for all diving activities including diving outside of the facility. The Dive Coordinator will possess or be prepared to obtain a broad knowledge base in all aspects of OSHA requirements for safe diving protocols at CMA The Dive Coordinator will take direction for daily operations from the DSO, Manager Of Dive Operations ,Director of Animal Care,and/or the VP for Zoological Care and Operations to include maintenance, husbandry presentations and other assignments, workloads, and special projects as required.
Dive Safety, volunteer communications, animal health, record keeping and visitor experience are the driving priorities in accomplishing the goals of this position.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Interface effectively with Aquarium Leadership and other departments to maintain the highest quality dive safety standards.
- Coordinate and manage staff, intern, and volunteer daily work assignments as required.
- Assist DSO/Manager of Dive Operations in inspecting, labeling, and maintaining life safety equipment to include O2 kits, first aid kits, AED, back boards etc.
- Assist DSO/Manager of Dive Operations in developing and maintaining OSHA diving standards for all CMA divers.
- Assist DSO/Manager of Dive Operations in execution of the preventative maintenance program for all diving related equipment
- Assist in the maintenance of all diver training, record keeping and dive physical requirements for all divers.
- Assist DSO/Manager of Dive Operations in the implementation and maintenance of all dive program logs, safety records and Diving Policies and Procedures.
- As required, work alongside volunteer, intern, and staff divers in the maintenance of the aquarium pools and dive presentations.
- Foster working relationships with other institutes and organizations.
- Perform other duties as workload necessitates.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: *
- Minimum Advanced Open Water Diver certification from an internationally recognized diver training organization, with endorsements in CPR/AED/First Aid and O2 Provider. More advance certifications and specialties are a bonus.
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing. Public speaking experience a plus.
- Ability to evaluate divers for competency in all SCUBA related activities.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in a constantly changing environment as well as individually, with a minimum of supervision.
- Possess a valid drivers license.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes weekends, holidays and occasional evenings.

- Ability to respond to emergencies on an on-call basis.
- No impairment of sight, smell, hearing, touch, balance and agility of movement which might interfere with ability to work.
