General Definition of work:

The Distribution Technician Trainee is responsible for operating a variety of light to heavy equipment. Performs a variety of skilled and semiskilled activities in maintaining, repairing, inspecting, and operating the Laguna Madre Water District (LMWD) water systems.
Essential Job Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:
· Performs excavating of soil, assist other distribution staff in installing and repairing water utility systems.

· Operates and transport heavy equipment such as; dump trucks, backhoes, electronic locating devices.

· Inspects and monitors equipment to maintain adequate operating conditions.

· Selects the proper cleaning tools for the maintenance of water lines.

· Performs manual tasks involving physical and endurance under variable weather conditions.

· Assists with minor/major repairs or replacement of water equipment.

· Performs other related duties as assigned to enhance the overall operations and services of the Distribution Department.

· Must adhere to all safety policies and procedures.

Requirements:

· Job requires a diploma from an accredited high school or GED equivalent.

· Position requires a valid, TX Class C driver’s license.

· Must be able to read, write and speak English.

· Must be able to obtain a class “C” Distribution Certification issued by TCEQ.

· District may hire distribution Technician with no previous work experience.

· Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License within six months of employment.

· Must be able to work stand-by rotation upon acquiring the Commercial Driver’s License.

Work involves walking at job sites, driving, lifting, and climbing and other physical demands.
This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. Must be able to lift to 50 pounds.
