Job Title: Distribution Operations Supervisor

Location: Austin, Texas

Duties:

  • Provides technical and administrative supervision of the Company's Electric Distribution Design group and provides distribution design support.
  • Reviews complex designs and assists Engineers in sizing distribution protection system equipment by adhering Go-95, GO-128, and NESC.
  • Evaluates Osmose O-calc pro reports for structure loading.
  • Serves as the lead interface for the group with other company departments, outside consultants, clients, contractors, suppliers, and others concerning technically related matters.
  • Administers company policies, salary administration, training, safety (both company and client), employee development, and performance evaluations for the employees of the Distribution Design group.
  • Approves time sheets and expenses for direct reports.
  • Takes a lead role in building the Distribution Design group by hiring employees, managing marketing services, and providing outstanding service to clients.
  • Supervises design project efforts and provides support for Project Managers.
  • Responsible for teaming with or managing consultants involved in Distribution Design projects.
  • Works with Project Management to prepare and coordinate proposals, schedules, and budget estimates for client activities.
  • Assigns and schedules work to meet client requirements, ensuring the highest quality and most efficient use of resources.
  • Manages the Distribution Design group to meet or exceed profitability and quality performance targets.
  • Serves as a resource to the Company's business development contact with clients and partners.
  • Responsible for complete and accurate record keeping as well as Quality Assurance and Quality Control of all work performed by the Distribution Design group.
Requirements:

Education & Experience Requirements:

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and 2 years of experience performing distribution design and engineering in a 4kv to 34Kv distribution system for overhead and underground systems

Or, in the alternative:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and 4 years of experience performing distribution design and engineering in a 4kv to 34Kv distribution system for overhead and underground systems.

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated expertise leveraging knowledge of Overhead & Underground Distribution Design and National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) in support of distribution engineering projects with an emphasis on new business, grid modernization, and storm hardening;
  • Demonstrated expertise coordinating and sizing of distribution protection system equipment such as fuses, switches, reclosers, transformers, capacitor banks, and voltage regulators;
  • Demonstrated expertise (DE) leveraging knowledge of the Work Management System (WMS), Design Manager (DM) system, and cable pulling calculations in support of distribution engineering projects with an emphasis on voltage optimization, distribution automation, new business, and storm hardening; and,
  • Demonstrated expertise in the environmental and local/city limits application process to accomplish distribution power line design construction.
