GCI's Dishwasher & Kitchen Assistant will perform meal service and kitchen clean-up, assist other kitchen staff in meal preparation and service, and stocking inventory. Perform various housekeeping tasks. Interacts with clients and assists them in taking advantage of Retreat activities.

Essential Duties:

• Performs kitchen clean-up tasks including dishwashing, sweeping, mopping, and garbage collection, as well as cleaning of kitchen equipment and various surfaces and performs periodic deep cleaning tasks as assigned by Retreat Chef.
• Assists during meal service with dining room preparation, delivering food to guests, and clearing dishes.
• Performs housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, sweeping, window cleaning, restroom clean-up, and general straightening of guest common areas.
• Assists with stocking of food and beverage inventory.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

• Have a thorough understanding of how a Retreat operates and what tasks must be performed to accomplish operational objectives and assure high quality service for guests.
• Know standard practices and procedures for maintaining a sanitary kitchen and proper food service techniques.
• Have basic housekeeping skills and knowledge regarding the safe use of various cleaning tools, equipment and chemicals.
• Be knowledgeable about and able to implement company safety procedures and Retreat safety policies.
• Be able to prioritize tasks, work independently and to communicate effectively with other staff and Retreat guests.

Minimum Qualifications:

• One year of experience in a similar work environment with a similar range of duties and responsibilities preferred.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.

Certifications: Provided by the company within first month of hire: First Aid/CPR/AED training

Physical Requirements:

Must be capable of performing a variety of physical functions involving lifting and carrying loads up to 50 lbs., lifting, climbing, reaching overhead, bending, standing for long periods and similar activities.

Must live and work at a remote Retreat location (with employer provided room and board) for a period of approximately 5 months. Work schedule is 7 days per week. Some duties are performed outdoors with exposure to weather, cleaning agents, solvents and chemicals.

The company and its subsidiaries operate in a 24/7 environment providing critical services to Alaskans and may need to respond to public health and safety matters or other business emergencies. Due to business needs employees may be contacted outside of the normal business hours to respond to the immediate emergency. As such, you will be requested to provide emergency after hours contact numbers, to include your home and cell phone numbers if you have those services.

Driving Requirements (if applicable) : Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and a satisfactory driving record.
