Disability Benefits Advocate
Get paid to learn! Receive training and credentialing through Cornell University to help empower people with disabilities. A Disability Benefits Advocate supports people with disabilities as they navigate Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid benefit programs when they begin working. . Training provided through Cornell University’s Certification for Benefits Planners.
The Choice Group helps people live up to their abilities and is looking for an individual with human services experience, who is detail oriented and passionate about working with people with disabilities.
Benefits Practitioner/WISA certification preferred but education and training provided for qualified candidates.

This position will primarily serve clients and students with disabilities in the community. Our programs provide support for individuals with varying abilities in finding and maintaining successful, integrated employment in the community.
Compensation is excellent and based on experience, education, and additional applicable skills

Requirements:
This position requires a dedicated person to be a self-starter with great time management skills. This is a community-based position, so the ideal candidate will have a valid driver’s license, dependable transportation, a good driving record, and documentation of adequate auto insurance.
Prefers at least a Master’s degree in a related field plus 1 year of related experience, a Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus 2 years of related experience, an Associate’s degree (or equivalent credits) in a related field plus 4 years of experience, or a high school diploma and 10 years of related experience.
Related field or experience is defined as: Social Work, Rehabilitation, Human Services, or other education or work with individuals with varying disabilities that is determined to be equivalent)
