      Job Summary:

        The Director of Therapy Operations is responsible for overseeing departmental managerial functions including: financial and budgetary concerns, long-range planning for therapy program development, establishing departmental specific goals, generation and distribution of policies and procedures, standards and objectives, organizing, developing, directing, and supervising all aspects of therapy operations, including community outreach and collaboration with rehab marketing to ensure strategic rehab plans/goals are met. The scope of the Director of Therapy Operations duties include 24-hour responsibility for inpatient and outpatient divisions, in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local regulations and guidelines, accreditation/licensing standards, and ethics to assure the highest degree of quality care is rendered at all times. The Director of Therapy Operations serves as a member of the rehab hospital’s administrative team and represents the therapy operations at hospital meetings, supporting and contributing to the goals and objectives of the organization at all times. The Director of Therapy Operations is responsible for the daily management of fiscal, human and physical resources, meeting the demands of appropriate staffing ratios/mix and schedule requirements providing adequate coverage for patient treatments in assigned areas. Staff growth and development is promoted through providing the necessary orientation and continuing education opportunities as well as recruitment and retention efforts, competency evaluations, coaching and disciplinary actions. Efficient operations of hospital/departmental programs are managed through seeking immediate resolution of customer service issues and therapeutic practice variances while proactively monitoring assigned areas for risk exposure. Staff and patient safety is promoted and maintained while striving for ongoing excellence in service satisfactions standards.



      Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
        • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation within areas as assigned.
        • Oversees and is responsible for all aspects of human resource management within all the therapy departments, including retaining quality staff, decreasing turnover utilizing company strategies for staff recognition and reward, implements policies and procedures relating to employment, directing departmental orientation, competency and licensure compliance and performance appraisal process for department. Supporting clinical education affiliations with community institutions, promoting development and training of new professionals, directing hiring, evaluating, rewarding, counseling, promoting, disciplining, or terminating staff following policies and procedures.
        • Ensures the department and staff are ready for all regulatory inspections and meet all compliance standards. Creates and maintains departmental policies. Ensures safe, clean and orderly operations at all facilities. Oversees tracking and inspection of equipment throughout system and ensures that all is within compliance of regulatory bodies. Addresses and plans for any environmental updates or remodels working with other departments.
        • Monitors and manages day to day operations to meet financial performance objectives/goals and budget. Uses historical data and emerging trends to accurately forecast revenues and expenses in therapy cost centers. Reviews, evaluates, and monitors productivity measures in the department to meet financial indicators and budget.
        • Effectively forecasts capital equipment, expenses and FTE’s for budget. Works in cooperation with the accounting department for the development and maintenance of departmental budget. Builds relationships with vendors to ensure cost effective, appropriate products and services are being provided.
        • Works in collaboration with administrative director of rehabilitation hospital, nursing director of rehabilitation hospital and medical director of rehabilitation. Liaises with, all directors, physicians, administration and community to coordinate services. Establishes new programming within acceptable business strategies. Develop and grow services in the therapy department.
        • Looks for opportunities for growing rehab programs within the community, keeping in mind the organizations strategic plan. Develops business plans and collaborates with other departments to determine viability of project.

      Education, Experience, Qualifications:
      • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in related field required.
      • Minimum of 3 years of management experience in rehabilitation programs.
      • Licensed Physical Therapist in the State of Florida.
      • Graduate of a program in clinical rehabilitation.
      • Post-graduate training in therapy discipline and post graduate training in management or in process.
      • Proven program development skills.
      • Must have excellent supervisory and communication skills necessary for building and maintaining strong inter and interdepartmental, multi-disciplinary relationships, facilitating an environment and culture to meet hospital mission objectives, attaining goals and moving towards continual quality improvement of department performance standards.
      • Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows
