Position Summary
This position is responsible for the successful leadership of multiple complex and cross-functional programs as well as defining and managing the scope of customer outputs to each function within Lightning eMotors. The person in this role will ensure that efforts span across the full program lifecycle including Concept Development, Bid and Proposal, Research and Development, Scale Production, Upgrades, and In-service Support. The Director will lead multi-disciplinary teams; actively engage with leadership, program stakeholders, and customers to ensure program success; as well as be comfortable in a working director role. Our ideal candidate is somebody who is not only willing to do the work alongside their team as needed, but who is also experienced working toward the bigger picture.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, direction, and guidance for all program activities, including planning, organizing, and managing matrixed resources
- Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to cross-functional team members and junior program managers
- Drive others to execute work by building positive relationships to ensure a high level of integration and cross functional collaboration among various departments
- Lead various internal and external cross-functional program review meetings
- Create and maintain detailed and actionable open issues lists and Master Program Timelines
- Serve as the central control point for progress of open issues, roadblock resolution, risk mitigation and escalation
- Develop and implement process improvements in line with an Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) mindset
- Lead cross functional teams in following the Gate Process
- Lead new business pursuits by creating business cases, pursuit strategy, and risk analysis in conjunction with Sales, as needed

- Time management: Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, remain organized, and focused on work in a manufacturing environment. You should be comfortable working under pressure to meet short and often inflexible deadlines, as well as complete tasks independently.
- Scale-Up Mentality: Maintain an agile mindset and can deal with change in a productive manner. You should be willing to balance time and effort with the ups and downs of deadlines.
- Analytical: Capable of identifying solutions to unusual and complex problems; utilize creative problem-solving; and analyze available data.
What we require:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or closely related field
- 10+ years of Program Management leadership experience in automotive manufacturing or similar industry
- Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary/technical teams using systems engineering processes
- Demonstrated knowledge of planning processes, including critical path analysis and risk mitigation
- Experience with ERP system, NetSuite is preferred
- Intermediate to Expert experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
What we prefer:
- Master’s degree in Engineering, MBA, or advanced degree in a similar area
- Demonstrated AQPQ knowledge
- Demonstrated experience within a matrix organization
- Demonstrated experience with Smartsheets/MS Project
- Financial Analysis experience (e.g. ROI, business case, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience driving complex products from development to production
