The Director, Procurement is responsible for providing overall leadership and direction for the procurement team (i.e. direct and indirect purchasing), developing strong, productive and strategic relationships with key suppliers and working across functions to ensure alignment on critical material priorities. He/she is tasked with building an environment based on industry best practices in procurement processes, tools and systems aimed at optimizing assurance of supply at the lowest possible cost. This will be accomplished by 1) developing and communicating an accurate point of view on industry standard capabilities, competitive capabilities and meaning of best in class, 2) collaborating and driving the implementation of the right processes, tools & systems for the business, 3) establishing strong relationships with key suppliers, up and down their organization, 4) working collaboratively internally to ensure other functions understand material availability constraints and supply dynamics, 5) hiring great people, mentoring and motivating them, and 6) monitoring and optimizing critical business metrics and processes. A deep understanding of consumer electronics is a must and knowledge of carrier operations is a plus.

Salary range = $161k - $205k (based on experience & background)

Responsibilities:

• Primary contact point for direct and indirect suppliers. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, leading RFQ process with prospective vendors, contract review and negotiation, collaboration with engineering on technology roadmaps and approved vendor list (AVL). Also includes material lead time management, supply/demand balance of material, order coverage, EOL material management.
• Establish a regular cadence with key suppliers and to position Inseego favorably as it pertains to pricing, delivery schedules and collaborative efforts.
• Review roadmaps to assess alignment with Inseego product development plans.
• In collaboration with engineering, influence supplier and material selection for direct materials that meet technical specifications and optimize cost and availability.
• In collaboration with engineering, contract manufacturer and ODM, identify opportunities for cost reductions in both material and MVA. Develop actionable plans and drive initiatives that meet or exceed quarterly cogs & opex cost reduction goals through direct negotiation or value engineering.
• Collaborate with other leaders within Inseego IT, engineering and contract manufacturer to develop & implement process improvements, policies, strategic plans & objectives.
• Communicate to Sales and customers, as necessary, appropriate details regarding material availability and supply dynamics.
• Define & specify processes, tools & systems used in operations overhead functions. Ensure current processes are in-line with industry standards, trends and practices and are cost competitive.
• Track and report as appropriate all supply constraints and EOL material especially where revenue shipments may be affected. Develop and drive mitigation plans.
• Provide overall guidance and direction to procurement team for full range of process improvements.
• Day to day management of the procurement team including reviewing and approving purchase orders, mentoring, performance management and development of employees
• Accountable for operational performance and results pertaining to procurement as measured by KPI’s (e.g. industry standard & custom metrics).
• In collaboration with Finance, lead coordination & implementation of quarterly standard cost revisions.
• Accountable for overall management of contract manufacturer and key suppliers pertaining to cost setting & capabilities to meet internal and external needs & expectations, operating efficiently and cost effectively.
• Interact seamlessly with executive level management within Inseego on matters of significance.
• Perform other related duties as assigned
• Role may require travel to suppliers and/or customer site(s).

Experience/Requirements:

• Minimum 7 years of management experience.
