PATH is seeking creative and enthusiastic professionals with experience in non-profit event coordination and management, partnership management, and fundraising to join us as the Director of Special Events.

This position oversees all of PATH's frontline fundraising throughout the state to engage supporters in philanthropic opportunities through dynamic experiences. A proven history of integrating strategy and creativity to cultivate and enhance communtiy engagement and support are essential!

WHAT IS THE DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL EVENTS?
Reporting to the Chief External Affairs Officer (CEAO), the Director of Special Events oversees event planning and production for PATH's frontline corporate and individual event fundraising. Working closely with Executive leadership, this position plays a key role in growing special events revenue by leading, designing, and driving fundraising strategies. Responsibilities of the Director of Special Events Include:

  • Event Planning and Design
    • Partnering with the CEAO and CEO to develop and implement strategies for events that ensure current and future goals are achieved
    • Overseeing all aspects of event production including vendor selection and coordination, event logistics, content development, fiscal management, staff, and volunteers
    • Building and maintaining exemplary relationships with vendors
    • Collaborating with the CEAO to analyze and assess ROI for events and integrate industry best practices and concepts to enhance PATH's fundraising
    • Collaborating and coordinating internal and external stakeholders to design, develop, and implement strategies for engaging the community at large and meeting goals
  • Fundraising
    • Maintaining a portfolio of prospects and donors known to give primarily through special event opportunities
    • Cultivating, soliciting, and procuring sponsorships, auction items, tickets, ads, and in-kind goods for events and executing all sponsorship benefits
    • Developing relationships both internally and externally to leverage support for events, including with statewide staff, committee members, board members, elected officials, and key volunteers and donors
    • Leading and working across teams to execute solicitations for special events
  • Event Oversight & Supervision
    • Maintaining event consults and managing event committees
    • Leading all event meetings and ensuring proper communication across volunteers and staff from planning to post-event debriefing
    • Evaluating event successes and challenges and utilizing insights to enhance the planning and execution of future events
    • Providing event progress and targeted goal updates to leadership
    • Providing supervisory oversight to direct reports

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered for this position, we require all candidates:

  • Hold a Bachelor's Degree in a related field OR have an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Have 5 years of experience in non-profit event coordination and management, partnerships management, and fundraising.
  • Demonstrate experience and skill in volunteer management
  • Have experience providing supervision to staff, students, interns and/or volunteers
  • Be proficient with computers and technologies used for work outputs including:
    • Microsoft Office Software, including strong working knowledge of Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
    • Canva
    • Constant Contact
    • Familiarity with DonorPerfect or similar donor management software

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
Regardless of qualifications, the Director of Special Events must:

  • Be able and willing to travel statewide in California up to 20% of the time to perform work duties
  • Be able and willing to work flexible hours which include evenings or weekends
  • Have employment eligibility verification
  • Have or be able and willing to obtain CPR/First Aid training
  • Provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination
  • Successfully complete the following as a condition of hire:
    • Tuberculosis Test
    • Background Screening
    • Drug Test

DRIVING
Driving is an essential function of this position. To meet the employment requirements for this role, all candidates must:

  • Have reliable transportation
  • A valid driver's license
  • Proof of insurance and ownership for personal vehicles used during work duties
  • The ability to qualify for PATH's insurance coverage

COVID-19 VACCINATION
Effective 11/01/2021 PATH will require all employees to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. All prospective hires will be expected to provide proof of full vaccination as part of the pre-employment credentialing process.

FLEXIBLE WORK
PATH is a California employer. Therefore, all regular and customary work must be performed within the state. Approval for work outside of the office, does not establish approval for work to be conducted outside of California.
