Job Description

The Director of Retail maintains the culture of the business, protects the Pleasantrees brand, inspires the team and shows compassion for our guests and is responsible for overall management of all Michigan retail locations, team members, merchandise, and guest experience. They will also be responsible for maximizing sales and profitability by focusing on key business initiatives, strategies, and analytical analysis.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Analytics

  • Provides strategic leadership to multiple locations having a strong understanding of each local cannabis market and anticipating future needs
  • Analyze the business and implement action plans to improve results, generate sales for each product category by creating new clients and reactivating former ones
  • Daily/Weekly/Monthly focus on KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) while evaluating opportunities for growth and improvement
  • Drive strategic revenue plans for each location, including partnerships with internal departments to ensure appropriate product mix and consistent execution of promotional and marketing initiatives
  • Evaluate weekly, monthly, and quarterly analytic reports to inform upon the execution of retail strategies and present findings to company leadership as requested

Employee Staffing, Training, & Development

  • Evaluate store staffing levels; interviewing and hiring as needs develop
  • Enforce company policies while adhering to proper procedure regarding disciplinary action
  • Ensure all staff members, including most particularly store managers, are properly trained concerning company procedures, policies, store operations, applicable state/federal regulations and inventory intake, management, and audit protocols

Store Operations

  • Identify required staff training and policy initiatives and facilitate the creation and implementation of same in concern with other relevant corporate staff and third-party vendors, if any.
  • Continuously improve operational performance within retail locations and create necessary SOPs
  • Ensures operational priorities, processes, and procedures are communicated, understood, and executed consistently across all locations
  • Lead and execute all new store openings including inventory planning, staffing, training, visual merchandising, and inspections

Compliance & Inventory

  • Ensure maintenance of cycle counts, inventory accuracy and shrink requirements
  • Adhere to and uphold loss prevention systems to prevent all possible opportunities for loss and endangerment
  • Oversee accurate records of all location activities including daily cash reconciliations, sales, deliveries, and returns in accordance with state laws and standards
  • In-depth understanding of METRC, State and local laws, and general understanding of cannabis industry regulatory landscape
  • Proactively identify compliance weaknesses and work with necessary departments to correct any issues
  • Understand state and local regulatory inspection topics of emphasis and train employees on the same

Leadership

  • Establish a sales-focused culture that is rewarding to staff and results in genuine and positive guest experiences
  • Continuously engage the field team to provide career growth opportunities while delivering “in the moment” feedback along with tools to achieve professional growth and development
  • Lead teams with positive influence through clear, concise communication, while developing an environment that promotes for the industry and company

Experience and Requirements

  • 7-10 years in regional retail management or another similarly scoped position which focused upon operations, analytics and top-down strategy in high-volume environments consisting of multiple site locations
  • Strong personnel management with experience in staffing, employee relations, training and development, and performance management
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Occasional long hours (including nights, weekends, and possible holidays) and willingness to travel throughout the state
  • A sense of urgency and high energy with a high emphasis on leading by example
  • Minimum of 21 years of age
  • Must pass criminal background check and drug screening (excludes THC)
  • Must be compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the Cannabis industry
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
