Philo Development is looking for a strategic Director of Operations to help lead a world-class real estate development team actively managing several high-profile projects throughout the Mountain West. This will be an exciting and dynamic role, key to the success of Philo Development and our various projects, with the opportunity for significant personal upside associated with portfolio success.

The Role:
This role is a key early hire for Philo, intended to accelerate Philo’s pace of execution on the numerous development opportunities that lie ahead of us. The Director of Operations will act as a strategic partner to the Managing Partner over Philo Development in building and managing a highly capable, efficient, development program. Responsibilities include oversight of the day-to-day activities of the Philo Development team; providing support in defining, executing, and measuring progress against group goals and underlying strategy; and bringing innovation and best practices into all that we do. In addition to a track record of driving operational excellence within real estate development efforts or similar, the successful candidate will have a bias for action, a passion for creative problem-solving, and the ability to effectively influence stakeholder decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a high-caliber development team, capable of effectively executing on the large number of high-profile opportunities within Philo’s pipeline
- Actively recruit and support new development team members additive to the Philo vision
- Oversee day-to-day development team activities, supporting developers in timely executing all responsibilities
- Support Philo efforts to ensure continued application and improvement of robust end-to-end development processes
- Work with Philo finance team to establish budgets and metrics and provide timely and accurate reporting on Philo Development performance including portfolio results to both internal and external stakeholders
- As needed, provide support in all aspects of the development process, including pro forma modeling, financing, proposal development, entitlement, and contractor management
- Provide technical and career mentorship for team members
- Contribute to new business opportunity generation
- Help shape Philo’s long-term strategies
Required Qualifications & Capabilities:
- Meaningful experience in land acquisition or disposition and/or land planning and development
- Experience supporting, implementing, or driving best practices within a development group
- Familiarity with all aspects of the real estate development process including experience in commercial, planned unit, industrial, hospitality, multi-family, and/or single-family development
- Strong operations background
- Experience with and passion for effective team building and mentorship
- Comfort with financial modeling and reporting, P&L management, etc.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, organization, and analytical skills
- Bias towards action and comfort with a fast-paced environment
