The Unaccompanied Children Program provides long term and transitional residential care and other supportive services to Unaccompanied Children (UC) who are under legal custody of the Federal Government. Working in collaboration with the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement, ORR, our program provides a safe and nurturing environment for youth in a Basic Shelter program in residences located in the greater New York, as well as a in Foster Homes in our Transitional Foster Care Program. In all programs, we provide therapeutic and educational services and other supports that youth need to achieve success through an array of strength-based and targeted interventions as well as link them with family members and/or other sponsors in the United States so they can move forward with their lives and thrive.
The Director of Medical and Travel Services is responsible for the overall provision of the medical and travel service of the children placed at Passage of Hope, with a high quality of services and compliance.

Responsibilities:
Oversees the functioning and operations of the Medical and Travel Services- Ensure that the program is being run in accordance with all regulations as outlined by ORR and in a manner that is consistent with Rising Ground mission and values.
- Monitor all Medical and Travel are completed meeting timelines
- Access necessary resources, transportation, monies and equipment as required to implement program delivery.
Staffing / Administration
- Directly supervises the Assistant Director of Medical and the Assistant Director of Travel by motivating, providing support and engaging them in a process that requires team process to solve problems effectively, address their teams positively and proactively, and reaching program expectations and goals.
- In conjunction with Human Resources and the Management Team, assist in the selection, interview and hiring of staff in the program.
- Assist in provision of program-specific training and orientation for new employees.
- Monitor progress of staff through performance evaluations. Assist staff in developing improvement plans and ensure training compliance.
- Work in collaboration with the different administrators of the program to ensure a coherent and connected system of practices
- Hold weekly meetings with the medical/travel team, to implement best practices, ensure consistent compliance with ORR and organizational standards.
- Track and monitor of medical data used as part of the program Performance Indicators of Success and for the implementation of best practices
- A Master’s degree in a Human Services related field is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum two years’ experience in a supervisory role
- Experience working with children
- Excellent organizational/communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with staff, community groups, the courts, other agencies, and the general public.
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
- Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) is a must
- Possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license and clean driving record- preferred
Annual Salary $95,000
