Job Description
Mori is seeking a highly motivated, collaborative, and detail-oriented Director of Manufacturing. The candidate will lead operations at Mori’s Pilot Plant and be responsible for ensuring performance and production targets are met. The Director of Manufacturing will also be actively involved in new facility design and technology transfer. This role reports to the VP of Engineering. Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the Pilot Plant achieves production and technology transfer objectives
- Managing the Pilot Plant Team, which may include a head of Manufacturing Technology, Operations Associates (day- and night-shifts), Operations Associate(s), Manufacturing Engineer(s), Facilities Manager(s), and potentially others
- Ensuring the human safety element as well as the food safety elements of the operation, including working with the Food Safety and Quality Team on operational compliance with Food Safety and cGMP procedures
- Tracking costs of production and identifying areas for potential cost-down initiatives
- Facilitating continual improvements in plant design and operation
- Overseeing the preventative maintenance program to enable maximum equipment up-time
- Contributing to new facility design and planning
- Contributing to technology transfer to third party manufacturing facilities
Requirements
Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in an Engineering discipline or a related field with 7+ years of experience in Manufacturing within food, pharmaceutical, biotechnology or related industries
- Strong experience in managing plants and teams
- Technical background in process development, technology transfer, and scale-up in biotech, pharma, or food technology fields
- Ability to define problems, take initiative, and prioritize objectives from multiple projects
- In-depth knowledge of production facility operations, maintenance and team management
- Excellent organizational, communication, and team building skills
- Comfortable with a fast-paced work environment
Compensation
- $128,688 - $145,000 (depending on experience), variable pay, and equity
