Planned Parenthood Keystone (PPKey) serves 37 counties in Pennsylvania, home to over half of Pennsylvania residents. We have administrative offices in the Lehigh Valley, Harrisburg, Warminster, and York. We operate 8 medical centers that serve over 30,000 patients annually and offer comprehensive sexuality education that reaches thousands of young adults.

The Director of Institutional Giving is responsible for establishing relationships with local, regional and national funding sources including foundations, government, associations, and corporations to advance Planned Parenthood Keystone’s strategic initiatives and operations. The position manages Planned Parenthood Keystone’s affiliate-wide grants program. This includes prospecting, researching, writing compelling letters of inquiry and proposals in support of unrestricted and restricted operating revenue, capital needs, sponsorships, and campaigns. This position is also responsible for submitting timely and accurate reports for all existing grants. This position reports to the Vice President of Development. Up to 25% of travel within affiliate territory; may vary to support the needs of the program. Candidates in PA/NJ are preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
- Meet or exceed PPKeystone’s annual fundraising goals for institutional funding by identifying, cultivating, soliciting, securing, acknowledging, and stewarding institutional funders. This position is a revenue-generating position, responsible for raising $500,000+ annually, with expectations for substantial growth over the next 3-5 years.
- Serve as the primary and responsible party to research and write comprehensive and persuasive letters of inquiry, grant proposals, sponsorship proposals, acknowledgments, and reports for programs, services, general operations, and capital projects.
- Collaborate with program staff and the Finance team to gather information needed to prepare accurate proposals, grant budgets and financial reports and to ensure grant restrictions are followed and proposal/reporting guidelines are fulfilled and deadlines met.
- Develop an annual plan for soliciting annual grants and sponsorships, including timelines and projected revenue as well as prior grant reports. Ensure all application and report deadlines are met well in advance.
- Serve as liaison to and ambassador of PPKeystone, represent PPKeystone during 1:1 meetings, foundation events, etc.
- Readily involve PPKeystone management and leadership in foundation communications and
- key meetings.
- Proactively identify potential institutional funders to establish new funding partnerships and
- strengthen PPKeystone’s relationships in the institutional funding community.
- In partnership with the Public Affairs leadership, establish and collaborate with an affiliate-wide Business Advisors’ Group.
- Oversee maintenance of current institutional donor records in Salesforce, including
- tracking/reporting submissions and other ongoing donor communications/cultivation efforts.
- Support internal Development team writing/editing needs, including but not limited to quarterly stewardship letters and reports for funders.
- Maintain a strong understanding of PPKeystone’s history, programs, current initiatives, and
- strategic priorities.
- Maintain confidentiality of records and personal donor and prospect information.
- Adhere to the Association of Fundraising Professionals Code of Ethics.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
- At least 4-5 years of direct experience in grant writing and development for a non-profit organization, with successful track record.
- Experience with successfully securing government grants preferred.
- Excellent writing skills, including the ability to write persuasive proposals; strong editing skills, including a comfort with helping program staff communicate their work to donors in a clear and concise manner.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask, set goals, and prioritize workload. Comfort in a deadline-driven environment. Effective, collegial communicator who can collaborate with all levels of staff. Unflappable under pressure.
- Knowledge of financial processes, including budgeting.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Professional integrity, drive, and ability to effectively represent and promote PPKeystone to external partners with professionalism and tact. Commitment to producing exceptional work products.
- Prior experience with donor database/CRM software is required (Salesforce strongly preferred), as well as a high degree of proficiency with MS Office, especially Word and Excel.
- Willingness to travel. Reliable means of transportation.
