Nachman Executive Consulting, LLC (NEC in partnership with Recruitment in Motion is backed with years of experience partnering with clients inside the Human Resources Space). NEC is partnered with a retail supermarket company, is seeking qualified candidates to serve as the Director of Human Resources.

The ideal candidate MUST HAVE RETAIL BACKGROUND and the role is 100% ON SITE.

Our client employs more than 1300 (non-union) associates at its nine (9) locations in and around Bel Air, Maryland.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • In partnership with Operations executives, develops and executes the HR and talent strategy to support business objectives
  • Identifies and oversees people-related projects designed to increase the employee value proposition; influences and educates mid and senior level stakeholders
  • Leads team of HR specialists (including employee relations, talent attraction, HR operations, benefits/risk management, learning & development and payroll/compensation) to align outcomes with HR/business strategy Ensures HR and talent initiatives are successfully transitioned to and adopted by field leaders, associates and HR Coordinators
  • Is a champion and role model of the company’s Open Door Policy; ensures leaders are trained and adhere to open door principles so that associates questions and concerns are handled in a timely manner and employee relations investigations are completed and outcomes align with company practices and culture
  • Ensures adherence to HR policies, practices as well as compliance with both State and Federal employment laws.
  • Consults with the Company’s VP and Director of Operations, as well as with principal shareholders on all significant personnel issues.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree with PHR/SPHR certification or a Masters degree in Human Resources, strong leadership skills, exceptional organizational skills, and solid verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Lotus Notes. Retail experience is a plus.

The ideal candidate will have lead a full-function HR team and have at least 10 years of leadership experience in Human Resources management.
