    Compensation: $135,052 - $152,002, plus benefits package
    Qualifications: State of Oregon Administrative License or ability to obtain one

    JO B SUMMARY: The Director of Human Resources will oversee daily operations of the HR department including administering processes for recruiting, hiring and evaluating the best personnel to facilitate the utilization of the district’s mission and vision. The Director will report to the Executive Director of Human Resources.

    ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Prior job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibilities in school administration and/or personnel/human resources management
    • Oregon Administrative License
    • pHCLE certification or willingness to acquire that certification
    • Successful experience in working with culturally diverse families and communities, and/or have otherwise demonstrated a commitment to equity and strengthening engagement of a diverse community and skill in communicating with a diverse population
    • Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required: Valid Driver's License and evidence of insurability

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Reports to the Executive Director and serves as an advisor on personnel matters
    • Assists in bargaining, negotiations and contract maintenance with all bargaining units
    • Works with staff and the insurance adviser in the administration of the employee benefits and worker’s compensation programs, as well as legally required leaves
    • Supervises the human resources department to ensure the recruitment, selection, evaluation and training of staff, in cooperation with the administrators and staff
    • Directs the recruitment program for administrators, licensed staff and classified staff including the coordination of educator job fairs
    • Maintains ongoing communication with schools of education and similar institutions likely to prove helpful as sources of personnel, i.e. coordination of student teacher placements and Grow Your Own programs
    • Assists and supervises district teacher mentors with the organization of the New Educator Training Camp and Orientation, the monthly new educator academy and other aspects of the New Teacher support program.
    • Develops and administers the staff evaluation programs for teachers, administrators and classified personnel
    • Organize and serve as the lead for the Evaluation Handbook Committee
    • Run evaluation reports, track evaluation due dates and distribute evaluation information to school administrators
    • Assists principals in the evaluation of all employees, including the drafting of programs of assistance for improvement
    • Coaches and supports principals and assistant principals
    • Coordinates the periodic review and revision of existing job descriptions
    • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the HR department including department staff evaluations
    • Collects, reviews and reports exit interview data of personnel leaving the district to the Executive Director and/or superintendent as requested
    • Assists in the preparation of the budget

    OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
    • Contributes to positive staff relations by participation in district-wide staff events

    • Skills to manage personnel and programs
    • Skills in effective communication, problem solving and decision making
    • Skills in interpreting and applying contract provisions
    • Knowledge of operations and needs of educational institutions
    • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet established deadlines
    • Ability to calm distraught people and mediate disputes
    • Abilities to provide direction to others and make independent judgments
    • Ability to communicate in both written and verbal form with individuals of varied cultural and educational backgrounds

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Ability to:

    • sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods of time
    • talk and hear conversations in a potentially noisy environment
    • use precise control of fingers and hand movement, often in a repetitive motion such as keyboarding
    • reach for and handle objects
    • use close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
    • Bending, stooping, kneeling and lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds may also be required upon occasion
