Director of Finance | Full Time | Year Round
Job description
- Oversee the preparation of the monthly P&L, Balance Sheet, bank reconciliations and present to Managers and Board of Directors.
- Analyzes accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to standards defined within the department.
- Review all financial and transaction information relating to business operations.
- Constantly develop and approve appropriate financial and management reports that summarize the financial positions in areas of cash flow, income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present and expected operations.
- Facilitate the preparation of budgets and forecasts working closely with the management team
- Assist with annual insurance renewals and bindings.
- Oversee Working Capital, i.e., reserves, to ensure long term planning and capital improvements
- Manage various systems and procedures for analysis and control, including but not limited to commercial insurance policies, merchant processing fees, PCI compliance and other pertinent contracts.
- Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures
- Supervise a team of 1-5 employees, including but not limited to accounting staff and night audit team
- As required, attend Board Meetings and Committee Meetings as financial representative for the property.
- External liaison with Auditors and Bankers
- Maintain a professional working relationship with all departments
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex industry and related documents. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquires and complaints. Ability to understand, read, write, and converse in English.
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to make decisions requiring the use of multiple variables in complex non-standard situations. Uses discretion and independent judgement on matters of significance.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office and Sage 100. General ledger, cost accounting, accounts payable and receivable systems with knowledge of other systems and processes, fixed asset accounting, inventory tracking and control, tax accounting, cash management and banking.
- Other duties may be assigned as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 7 years + in progressively more responsible accounting or finance roles
- Public accounting experience preferred
- CPA or CMA preferred
- Experience with condominium association accounting
- Extensive knowledge of Excel and ability to build and update financial models\
