What You’ll Do:
The Director of Engineering will collaborate with engineering managers, Directors of Product Management, and the Product Operations team to maximize internal workflows while guiding the direction for multiple products to bring the best practices and processes to all teams. The Director of Engineering provides the strategic vision and directs all aspects of engineering activities and projects.
Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, this leader will be responsible for planning and leading the consolidation of applications, providing training and technical leadership to multiple engineering departments, and setting measurable goals that align with the overall company objectives. The Director of Engineering works to examine the technology, organizational resources, and the demands of the market to plan practical procedures for upcoming projects.
How You’ll Succeed:
- You will lead regular meetings with new managers and leads to ensure transparency between multiple brands and teams
- You will develop team member success plans for current and future team leads
- You will be comfortable having tough conversations when needed
- You will dive head first into new teams’ processes to look for improvements
- You will provide guidance and remove obstacles to ensure that teams are meeting their quarterly goals
- You will identify staffing and project related resource needs to avoid bottlenecks
- You will lead by example and be able to motivate in tough situations
- You will answer technical questions from potential Enterprise clients for multiple brands through phone calls and email
- You will oversee the hiring needs and personal development needs for multiple engineering teams
- You will manage expectations for both external and internal clients
- You will assist in planning technical strategy by working with external and internal customers for multiple brands to maximize ROI
- You will have an understanding of software development and be comfortable helping out if/when needed
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working in multiple development environments
- Fast paced and able to manage multiple priorities over multiple teams
- Experience as an engineering manager or similar position
- Comfortable managing a team of engineering managers and team leads
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Comfortable with agile methodologies
- Ability to manage a fully remote team
- Strong experience with 3 of the following:
- PHP, Java, Python or another interpreted or compiled language
- MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar
- Angular, React, or vanilla JS
- 5-10 years of experience in software engineering
Bonus Points:
- Experience working and managing teams over multiple time zones
- Experience using JIRA or similar software
Salary Range:
$160,000 - $170,000 per year (USD) + bonus up to 15% of base salary
