Dakota Supply Group (DSG) is seeking an E-Commerce Director to join our Marketing team in Plymouth, MN. The E-Commerce Director is responsible for the strategy, growth, planning and implementation of our e-commerce platform that supports the profitable and sustainable growth of DSG's online business. This position will ensure a best-in-class retail and account management experience for all online customers. This position also serves as an important change agent through the development and communication of the short and long-term vision and strategy for e-commerce business. In this full time, salaried position, work is typically performed during standard business hours, Monday through Friday, but will vary on occasion according to business needs.

A Typical Day in the Life of an E-Commerce Director:

  • Lead the strategy, planning, testing, implementation, and maintenance of digital marketing elements that make up the overall customer experience on DSG’s e-commerce platform.
  • Work closely with sales, marketing, and IT to ensure a best-in-class e-commerce system.
  • Drive the growth and performance of the e-commerce site.
  • Lead and grow a high-performing e-commerce team.
  • Management of the key performance metrics for the e-commerce platform and the communication of these metrics and strategies for future enhancements.
  • Develop, manage, and lead the PIM content and workflow processes for maintaining PIM through direct management.
  • Manage the brand image and customer experience that attracts customers and encourages online purchases through the DSG e-commerce platform.
  • Plan and implement customer contact strategies that enhance growth, profitability, and brand development through e-commerce.
  • Develop, manage and lead the key E-commerce performance measures and analytics allowing continuous improvement of customer experience, traffic growth, and online revenue generation through DSG’s platform.
  • Develop, manage and lead the training process for the DSG E-commerce platform for all internal and external customers, including the feedback mechanisms to capture and share pertinent improvement ideas and updates.
  • Develop, manage and lead the process of maintaining up-to-date product availability including new product additions and the elimination of outdated and obsolete products.
  • Develop, manage and lead the E-commerce platform merchandising and promotional elements in coordination with the DSG Marketing activities, as well as through platform performance analysis review.
  • Manage the accuracy of information for all items on the e-commerce platform, including descriptions, images, style attributes, inventory availability, pricing, and any enhanced product content.
  • Serve as the in-house expert and manager for industry and related product listings to ensure industry trends and best practices, and to identify new opportunities to increase conversion.
  • Perform special projects as needed.

A Successful E-Commerce Director Typically Has:

  • A Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) from accredited four-year college or university preferred.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in managing e-commerce platforms with technical skills in e-commerce activities.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ previous management experience in the development of high-performing teams.
  • A proven track record of increasing sales and traffic to corporate websites.
  • Strong background in website design and Internet marketing including experience in using web analytics and other tools to identify opportunities for improvement in e-channel sales.
  • Depth of knowledge in e-commerce systems.
  • Team, people and communication skills with focus, energy and enthusiasm.
  • Attention to detail, can-do attitude, artistic and creative ability.
  • Professionalism, strong work ethic, flexibility, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Entrepreneurial nature with strong business acumen.
  • Passion for emerging technologies and understanding how they can be beneficially applied.
  • Knowledge of SEO, digital customer experience best practices, and HTML document architecture.
  • Experience in using analytic tools such as Google Analytics, SAP BI, and in analyzing results for online campaigns.
  • Familiarity with structured content management systems (PIM/CMS/CMMS/DATA WAREHOUSES).
