MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree in Information Systems, Education or related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
Teaching experience, particularly online. Experience with Moodle or other LMS.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinates and provides leadership and planning for the College’s distance learning programs; supervises other staff members in the Distance Learning division; works individually and collectively with faculty to improve effectiveness of online instruction, particularly within the Learning Management System (Moodle); supports the online course evaluation process; communicates distance learning professional development opportunities; collects and maintains key performance indicators related to distance learning; plans, creates, schedules, conducts, evaluates, and revises orientations for students and faculty; responds to student questions within 24 to 48 hours; monitors and approves expenses for the DL budget; participates in the annual planning process; supports the student enrollment processes for online courses; runs Colleague/Informer Reports in preparation of each semester to create courses in LMS, enroll students, faculty, and program coordinators in courses; provides census data access to Registrar's office at close of each semester; offers workshops, training, and tutorials for online students as needed; explores and shares new technological concepts and techniques that may benefit instruction; works with other community colleges and the Community College System state office in the coordination of distance learning projects; initiates Instructional Service Agreements (ISA) as needed; serves on campus committees and fulfills other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Instruction and Student Services; works cooperatively as necessary with the IT Director; ensures compliance and confidentiality with all policies and procedures of the college, NC Community College System, SACSCOC and applicable State and Federal agencies; performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Instruction and Student Services.
COMPETENCIES:
Strong personal and professional integrity; effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to work independently and handle multiple projects with varying priorities; knowledge of LMSs – specifically Moodle; multimedia software skills for course enrichment (Camtasia, Audacity, Soft Chalk, Dreamweaver, etc.); expert knowledge of current Microsoft Office software; ability to work collaboratively in an higher education environment; ability to advise faculty in the design, development, and implementation of technology that supports and enhances quality instruction and student learning; ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to students and staff; soft skills including: adaptability, communications, information processing, problem solving, responsibility and teamwork; knowledge of streaming audio and video, compression methods, file types and formats; familiarity with graphic design elements appropriate for web-based instruction and learning; proven ability to coordinate and direct multiple projects with faculty and staff.

Salary commensurate with education and work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, paid annual and sick leave, and the State of North Carolina Benefits Program.
