The Director of Community Engagement works under the direct supervision of the Executive Director. In cooperation with volunteers and staff, the Director will take primary responsibility for executing YWCA donor fundraising strategy, creating a culture of philanthropy to ensure sustained funding for mission-related programs; providing volunteer opportunities to help the YWCA fulfill its mission; creating relationships with donors and volunteers; and raising the profile of the YWCA in the community. The Director of Community Engagement is a member of the YWCA management team.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of progressively responsible work experience and/or relevant educational background in fundraising for non-profit organizations.
• Demonstrated success with donor data base management and donor relationship management and development.
• Strategic thinker with effective planning, organizational skills, communication, and time management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills; able to handle multiple projects at one time; self-directed; team player (collaborative) and must have a positive attitude.
• Commitment to and support of the YWCA Mission.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop the Annual Giving Campaign and relevant fundraising plans in collaboration with Executive Director and Board-level Committees. Partner with the Director of Marketing and Corporate Giving in developing a communication plan.
• Work with YWCA Program staff to understand the current needs of our community and to identify the future needs of clients in order to develop donor funded initiatives and secure funding to meet those needs.
• Take primary responsibility for donor cultivation and stewardship strategy.
• Individual and Corporate Giving: Establish and manage systems and processes for prospect research, donor cultivation, and information tracking. Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Corporate Giving when designing and implement system innovation.
• Facilitate and develop identified donor fundraisers in collaboration with Executive Director and Development Committee, including all stages from planning to implementation and analysis.
• Collaborate with the Grants Specialist as grant funding proposals are developed to attain understanding of all organizations that fund the YWCA mission.
• Develop and implement a donor-based fund development plan for the YWCA, in accordance with the Strategic Plan. Prepare short and long-range goals to meet YWCA Donor funding objectives and enlists support from the Executive Director, the YWCA Board of Directors, and staff/volunteers.

Other Duties:

• Recruit volunteers to work on applicable committees (fundraising, special events, etc.).
• Prepare budget proposals for each project as requested.
• Attend staff meetings as requested.
• Represent the YWCA on task forces or community committees as assigned.
• Perform other assignments as necessary and requested by the Executive Director.

Candidate Requirements:

• Must support the YWCA mission: eliminating racism and empowering women.
• Must have Donor Management Software experience.
• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Possess computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

YWCA of Rock County Fund Raising Initiatives and Team Approach to Fundraising

• Major Gifts (Executive Director and Director of Community Engagement): Identify potential donors through examination of past records, individual and corporate contracts, knowledge of community and collaboration with Board of Directors and fund development committee. Ensure excellent stewardship of donors through personal contact, written correspondence, recognition and support in collaboration with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.
  • Includes Legacy and Endowment gifts.
  • Includes Individual Donor Events. The coordination of events as needed that prioritize appreciation, relationship building , or campaigns asking for larger donations.
  • Includes coordination of the Chef Special Event (Gala), occurring every 2 years.
• Grant Writing and Written Proposals (Grant Specialist): Research public and private grant agencies and foundations to identify potential sources of funding for program support, research, community service, or other projects. Develop and submit grant proposals for funding from private foundations, corporations, businesses and government agencies. Works collaboratively with YWCA Directors to achieve goals.
• Events and Corporate Giving (Director of Marketing and Corporate Giving): Responsible for the YWCA Golf Outing, ‘Walk a Mile in Her Shoes’, Racial Justice Conference, and Women of Distinction and the solicitation of organizations interested in our Corporate Bundle Sponsorship Program. The Director of Community Engagement will partner with the Director of Marketing and Events in stewarding & developing corporate relationships and in planning and developing Giving Tuesday and any online donor campaign including the Annual Giving Campaign.
• Annual Giving Campaign and Donor Base Management (Director of Community Engagement): Develop the Annual Donor Campaign and partner with the Director of Marketing and Corporate Giving to communicate effectively with all donors at every level.
