Mission: The Wall-Las Memorias Project is a community health and wellness organization dedicated to serving Latino, LGBTQ, and other underserved populations through advocacy, education, and building the next generation of leadership.

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the general oversight of the Executive Director, serve as a liaison to organizations and private enterprises on behalf of the Executive Director, promoting our vision and programs to external funders, media organizations, government officials, and community stakeholders. The position also supports internal communications and is responsible for agency newsletters.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
*

  • Assist in research grant opportunities from government and non-government sources, draft proposals and supporting documents, and submit to grant coordinators for approval. Maintain accurate records and submit reports as needed for funding compliance.
  • Assist in cultivating relationships with existing private donors (individuals and corporations) and research potential new donors. Help develop creative, meaningful fundraising communication methods for both.
  • Oversee media relations activities, including assisting in writing and distributing media alerts and press releases, press cold calls, and follow-up contact as needed.
  • Maintain TWLM website and social media presence to attract and connect with community members, funding sources, and other stakeholders.
  • Build and cultivate relationships with community partner organizations to coordinate services when appropriate and collaborate on public events.
  • Cultivate relationships and serve as liaison to City, County, state, and national elected officials and government departments to advocate for TWLM initiatives and stay abreast of related governmental developments.
  • Provide oversight and direction for TWLM Marketing Team and independent contractors. Ensure effective internal communication regarding program goals and performance, upcoming events, and other agency news.
  • Coordinate all aspects of planning and production for TWLM events, including milestone celebrations, signature annual events, virtual town halls, and other special events. Ensure events are effective in messaging, participation, and fundraising and adhere to established budgets.
  • Support graphic design projects for agency publications (digital and print) and special events.

QUALIFICATIONS*
_Education and Experience
_

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Minimum of five years of professional experience in community engagement, community relations, or government activities is required.
  • Previous fund development and grant writing experience preferred.
  • Previous event planning experience preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive agency/community member information.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks under deadline pressure.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Highly organized.
  • Ability to use software programs, including Microsoft Office Suite or similar writing and presentation tools.
  • Ability to effectively design and maintain the TWLM website and use social media platforms to promote our organization and connect with community members.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Possess a Driver’s License
  • LiveScan will be requested upon employment.
  • You must be authorized to work in the United States.
